This is bobby48735@excite.com. I recieved an email today about my 94 intrepid. For the record am a Ford person, I am a Ford SHO hobbiest. The email pertained to the A/C system. First off there are no "filters" (offically orifices) in this car. There are a set of valves near the firewall. These rarely fail, and the seals along with the charge points, are mounted to the compressor itself. I do recommend that a A/c system be serviced my trained personel only, it can be dangerous or you could simply destory your air conditioning if incorrectly charged. Anyway, if you remove the hex bolt the whole fitting pulls out and the O-ring is clear to replace. Good luck!

I would also like to thank Bobby for his comments, because I just recently bought a 94 Intrepid es and everyone was terrifying me with what they had to say about them. I would have to agree, it does sound like most of you are being ripped off by your mechanics. I had a mechanic who ripped me off for the past 3 years and trust me he will never ever see my Intrepid. I thank you all for your input and hope I don't go through the pain and suffering you all have been through.

I do have one question... I own a '94 base 3.3L Intrepid with almost 300,000 miles. It does need a rack & pinion because the right side where the tie rod connects to the rack is shot due to neglect from a "faithful" friend. Anyway, I have a used rack and pinion from a '93 Intrepid I bought in Oklahoma. The guy said the system will work with my car. I went to an advance auto in Indiana (I drove the car from Oklahoma to Indiana on a busted rack & pinion) and they said my used rack WILL NOT WORK because my car has speed-proportional rack & pinion. Which is true?? Does the used rack work for my car or not??
