1999 4DR 4WD Blazer bought with ~6000 miles on it in 2000. Pretty much trouble-free since then, did have to replace one wheel bearing at ~60K and get the drivers door hinge repaired (under ext warranty). Change fluids regularly (oil @ 3K, Tranny fluid every 30K). Has remained surprisingly rust free here in Pennsylvania (where road salt eats cars for breakfast. Would buy again.
Have a 99 Blazer with 93k. Have had idler arm/wheel bearing problems and disk brake problems. To be honest, most of my problems though have been shady dealers/repair shops. I have put about 3k into it in three years, but for the most part I do like the vehicle.
'99 Blazer here. For my broken seat handles, I leave vice grips permanently attached. My Blazer shakes & shimmies pretty bad on the freeway - got two completely different expensive estimates. They each would fix different things. Forget that. A/C's been out for a long time. Got an estimate over 2k for that. My transmission fluid leak just got a lot worse and got an estimate of 1.5k - I think I'm just going to trade it in now. I will say this though, I LOVE the interior and exterior styling of these blazers. Much better looking to my eye than the Envoys & TrailBlazers.
1999 Blazer
Barrings 2 times and Ball joints. Heater core clogs and you get no heat. Seat handles broke. Fuel gage replaced (in gas tank) 2 starters an alternator, water pump, Throttle control sensor, Cam shaft sensor. Brake dust could choke a horse. Oil leak and more.
Sad thing is I LOVE this truck. It just doesn't like me. hehe
I'm supposed to get my first car tomorrow, and it is a 99 Chevy Blazer. After reading all these things, I don't know if I even want one... but we all ready paid, so I hope that it works out well for me. It's all ready at 123,000 miles, so hopefully the wheel bearing doesn't mess up...
