Wow, you guys are all dead on with this stuff.

Tip for the EGR Valve, rather than replace it, just maybe once every other month get in with a hammer and a flat headed object and beat on it a little while having someone rev the engine. It cleans the Carbon right out.

My 4 wheel high doesn't work, but 4 wheel low works fine. Someone told me is a problem with the transfer case?

I have to change the Heater Core tomorrow, can anyone give me any advice? I have no idea where to start.

Hello. I have an automatic 1994 Chevy Blazer S-10 with about 63K miles. The car belonged to my mother who passed away. I have the car in my possession now and it is a wonderful 2nd car to have to haul stuff around (other car is a Jetta). My brother is requesting that I sell it so I can give him half the money for it. (He thinks the car is worth $6K, I say now way! More like $2K!) Since I want to keep the car for a bit, I was thinking about getting the car appraised at a CarMax and just giving my brother cash for his half. Any body have any idea how much this car would be worth so I can give my brother his fair half?

Well, I was told I should search for a comment page about the Chevy Blazer. WOW! It's like I am in the twilight zone!

I purchased my 1994 Blazer in September of 94 in Houston Texas. It had 42 miles on it when I picked it up, and now she has a cool 384,500 and climbing! I will have to say that the 4.3 litre Vortec engine is awesome, however, I have had much pain while owning this vehicle. The worst problem and worst design it has is the six-legged "spider" fuel injector. I have already replaced that 5 times just this year, and it looks as if problems are starting again. I now refuse to believe it is my brand new injector going bad again VS. purchasing re-builts. I have literally gone through at least 15 injectors since I have owned this truck. The problems with the wires to the heater/defroster are right on the money. Mine has been busted forever, and since I live in the South, it's no biggie.

I have replaced the starter several times, although this has not been a chronic problem. The ERG valve is what I consider a chronic problem. Getting the screen put in has worked, but I am fearing that this may be a part of my problem now and I am blaming it on the spider injector again. (running rough, losing power) I need to get it checked again. Loss of power and bogging down, missing and "coughing" has been a chronic problem for several years now on and off. I have had terrible luck with transmissions, but to no fault of the design. That's another story entirely.

The turning of the steering wheel causing the wipers to come on makes me laugh! This is a true design flaw. As someone said on this forum, the engine is great. It's all the crap that goes on it! So true! So true. As a result, I don't see me making my 500,000 mile goal. This truck has become a money pit now and I may as well be paying the japanese for a vehicle that is reliable.

The blower has been replaced several times as well. It just does not blow as hard as it should. I think there should be another setting on the ac switch inside the car. The tailgate and window lact squeaking has been the longest existing problem that this vehicle has had. It drives me crazy, A layer of good ol' duct tape works well for a while, then back to the squeaking.

It is no longer cool to buy American and I think that is so sad. I truly feel if all the other stuff was right, I could go forever on that engine. The key to having longevity in my truck is changing the oil and filter religiously every 3-5K miles. I don't think the fuel pump is a chronic problem, but it has been an issue a couple of times in my vehicle.

In closing, I love my truck dearly, but when there are so many things that make it unreliable, it makes you want to go to the other side --- FOREIGN!! I hate to think about it, but until American car manufacturers get their head on straight, more power to people wanting to buy foreign. At least they are reliable. I will be sad when I finally have to trash my vehicle. Wish I could say I thought I would really make it to 500 K, but I see in reality, --- NOT GONNA HAPPEN Muna!!

My chevy s10 4 door blazer was fine when I bought it. Not anymore. I was on the freeway and my battery light and the check gages light came on and my car died (on the freeway!) I thought it was the battery so I replaced it, that didn't fix it so I replaced the alternator (because I had a sound system put in about 3 or 4 years ago). like a day later I turned my key and it started right up, ran for about a mile and the same thing happened again. after it dies it won't even crank or anything. I have had the fuel pump, filter, spark plugs, fluids, and it has had a tune up, plus AC work all previously. When I pump the gas to try to start it, it doesn't smell like gas at all. I'm thinking that I have a fuel system problem, but I don't know. I can't afford to keep pouring money in to it, any suggestions? PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

P.S. All 4 of my windows don't work, well the right rear one does a little on occasion, but its SLOW.

I have a 1994 Chevy Blazer S-10 Tahoe (Eddie Bauer Edition) that's been acting up lately. Bought it used in 2003. Interesting to see that some of the problems I've had are quite common!

The things I've had to replace are the brake pads, starter, battery, and the fuel filter and fuel pump - which all of the wiring was burnt out in and I'm lucky a fuse went out when it did or else (the mechanic informed me) my gas tank would have blown up!

(When my fuel pump was going out, my car would still start and run a little, but was really rough, and would die after a little while - eventually it wouldn't run at all - the starter would still crank over, power on so I knew it wasn't the battery, and if I pushed on the gas pedal it'd try to start for a few seconds, but it never would - just an FYI!)

But now it's making some funny noises. If I drive over about 35 mph it makes a "whirring" noise which makes me fear something else may be on the verge of blowing up! And it's just running rougher than before in general. It feels like it takes more pressure on the gas pedal than it should sometimes, so I'm wondering if there's some fuel lines that should have been replaced and weren't.

Other problems: my radio doesn't work (well, every couple of months or so it'll magically turn itself on and work for, oh, all of 5 minutes!), my a/c & heat went out, all windows work *except* for the front driver's side (don't you love going through the drive-through?! lol) and now my brakes are starting to squeak. Oh, and the 4 wheel drive isn't working either.

If you lose all system power you may want to look into your battery cables. Something is loose somewhere.

My Blazer has had 90 percent of these problems, but I have one that's irritating the heck out of me; my power windows move slow, and my drivers side window stops all together.

If you wait a few minutes, it will roll the rest of the way up?? Not sure what causes it, it seems as if it may be a ground problem, but I have no idea what to look for.

I have a 1994 S10 4 door Blazer with a 4.3 Vortex. I love the truck.

Had a few problems with the intake manifold. The darn fuel intake hoses had a small crack in them and leaked fuel into the chambers. The thing ran like crap and smelled fuel and hesitated badly. Funny thing was I never had one idiot light come on. Was very hard to troubleshoot. I put a LED light down her throat and took a good look. There was fuel pooling up in there. Took off the intake and found the split. I thought I would tell you guys about this problem as it was hard to find. :-)

Yeah, I own a 1994 s10 blazer with 750k miles on it. I've driven this thing since I bought it. I've had many of these problems that you've had, but I still love this truck. I've had the window problem where it hesitates, but you wait and it continues (I never figured this one out), and the light dimming problem (which can be the 4wheel control box. the wires get caught in the seat adjustment). and the egr valve, (you have to buy an aftermarket one from like lmc or something, then get the new air filter system.) which also adds fuel efficiency. but I'm working on a buddy's 92 jimmy, its almost identical, but I can't seem to figure out this 4 wheel, I pulled out the battery tray and checked that vacuum thingy, and it works. somewhere in the drivetrain it makes a ding when you press the button and sounds like you lock in the wheels, but they don't lock in. any help with this would be great. -Mike

I have a 1994 Blazer s-10, around 140 thousand miles. Its had a history of running rough for the last two years and in that time I have had to replace the whole fuel line, the fuel pump 2x, and a few other things. Had the whole engine serviced including spark plugs and all which cleaned it up for about a month or two before it started running rough again and drinking the gasoline. Anyone know if it would be worth it to have the fuel pressure regulator checked? Any advice at all welcomed. jamisonharper@gmail.com.

Wow, all the above. Bought my 94blazer from (I know this sounds cliche') a little old lady in 98 w/only 32k miles on it, started having problems the first year, second year it wouldn't even pass the smog test (strict laws in CA.) (truck was only 6 years old) fixed everything except a new block. One prob now is the digital dash went out, checked everything, fuse OK, OD and Speed-OD works but no gages. Have to fill by the miles (never know how much gas I really have) traced everything, an electrician doesn't think its the dash. Can anyone help? Looking at other websites it looks like this is a common prob. w/Chevy's digital dash... any help would be great...mongrelsgear@verizon.net.

I have owned my 1994 Blazer 4 door for only 2.5 years, but I have had a lot of these same issues. I am battling an issue right now, that I cannot figure out. Last summer, my heater/AC switch stopped working on the high setting, then about 1 week later, stopped all together. I had the switch replaced (and a wire that was shorted) for about $325. About 3 months later, the high setting stopped working again, and within 6 months, the switch would turn off from time to time. Now, with summer approaching, I have no heater/AC, because the switch has stopped again.

I can hard wire the blower to the battery, and get it to run, so I am just going to temp. hard wire it to something that get's power when the key is on.

Any ideas why and where the fix is in this problem?
