How can anyone be silly enough to believe someone from
Hyundai would write this ironic stuff?
In reading this review a second time, my guess is that either this review is a joke, or it was written by someone with an interest in
Hyundai, or the residents of Whacko World now have Internet service.
Not one word is credible or believable.
I wonder how that 2002 Elantra is doing today?
We (me and my wife) purchased an used elantra 2002 last year (in 2005) and till date there has been no problems. It had clocked 77k when I bought it. The only work I have done on it was rustproofing. We live in Toronto. Elantra was not a car we had preferred before buying, but zeroed on it after some research on my part. We wanted a decent car for less than $10k (CAD) and went on with our research and evaluation. we found that elentra was one of the models which was having better features (providing value for money) like motorised windows, auto-transmission and cruise control. The other makes were costing more than 12k. Overall we are quite satisfied with Hyundai Elantra 2002.
My wife and I owned a Hyundai Elantra when we were married in 1995, and we really loved it a great deal. We had no complaints about it whatsoever, and we never had any problems with it at all. When we had met, she had already owned the Hyundai Elantra, (a 1994), and I owned a 1994 Cadillac Deville. We lived in the state of New York at the time, (in the United States), and being that we required two vehicles, we kept both cars, and continued to drive them. We actually loved the Hyundai Elantra more than the Cadillac Deville, although we did like the Cadillac a great deal, overall the Elantra was just more enjoyable to own, and to drive! Considering the significant initial purchase price difference of the two vehicles, our monthly payments which we had to pay for our Hyundai payment was approximately one third of the amount that we had to pay for our Cadillac. Our Hyundai payment was approximately $250.00 while our Cadillac payment was approximately $750.00. Seriously; $750.00 per month! I wouldn't have minded the $750.00 per month payment if it were paying for perhaps a two bedroom two bathroom house with a yard if you know what I mean. To pay so much for a depreciating liability is simply inadvisable, and we certainly will not do that again. Maintenence of the Hyundai was much more reasonable as well, and operation costs were minuscule! The monetary price for the insurance premiums were considerably different as well; for a variety of reasons, the Hyundai being much more reasonably priced. Well, I must say, I have enjoyed reminiscing about our ownership of such a fine motor vehicle! It was certainly a pleasure to own and operate our Hyundai Elantra! Best wishes with your choice of vehicles to drive, enjoy, and be safe!
This was written by a sales person. It is a nice car, but it certainly isn't that great.
My son just traded his 2002 Elantra with 318,000K on it for a used 2005 Elantra. His 2002 was an exceptional car and very reliable. The automatic transmission housing cracked allowing the fluid to leak subsequently running the transmission dry and burning some internal components.
I must say that I was impressed with this car and would buy one myself without question. I'm sure that if he had replaced the transmission with a good used one, it would have gone another 100,000K. The engine ran perfectly, regular maintenance pays off in the long run.
For the price, I don't think Honda or Toyota can compete. If you want a real value, think about an Elantra.
It's a reliable car. Paint scratches easily is my only complaint. Hyundai has come along way. Since they started designing their own engines and quality control has come along way. Remember the pony, the excell stay away from these. Saying this,do you remember the first Honda civics piece of?. I owned one so I should know. My elantra is 2002 and reaching 200 000 kms. Brakes, tires battery, timming belt (maintence) is all that has been done. Great value and runs like a clock.
I just bought a 2002 Elantra and seeing that it is the year it is and no one has any major complaints I feel very confident that this car will treat me good. although I had some concern about how loud the engine is.
The engine does sound abit like a clock. Its realiable that's all I care.
I bought a 2002 elentra in september 2006 in Montreal with 80000 km on it, I now live in Victoria, BC and I have never had any problems with this great car. Of course I changed the timming belt and the cooling pump at 100000 km which is what you should do to avoid problems. I've had it rustproofed when I lived in Quebec so the car still looks great at 183000 km. IT IS A WONDERFUL CAR, I will soon buy a Santa Fe 2008 as I want to stay with Hyundai.
