If you not satisfied with your PV6 gearbox during the warranty period, insisted to get it overhaul at EON Glemarie (HQ) and not other service centre. Cost you nothing as mine was done recently after clocking 39,000kms. I am satisfied with the job done. Further, change your gearbox oil every 20,000kms eventhough the stipulated changing interval is 40,000kms if want your Pv6 gearbox to last longer.

Hey Guys.

I thought of buying a perdana v6 2001 but after listening to your comments it I have decided against it. i currently owned a satria 1.3 1997 and let me tell you. This proton car has never broken down. The only thing I needed to change were the engine oil, sparks and stuff.. though my radiator burst after 3 years and my alternator has been change twice. My proton has all the customary squeks and the suspension and lower arm needs changing. I must say my car has clocked 230,000km and its low maintainence. i only change the engine oil once a year and that's it. Turn the volume up on you stereo to rid yourself of the squeks. But seriously guys for brand new v6 in comparison with? there simply isn't any.

Can anybody tell me? How come the maximum speed of my Perdana V6 00/01 is only 180-190 instead of 205KM/H? Is it the 17' sport rim problem, HKS filter problem or Macro Ekzos problem? And I just overhaul my gearbox last week, please advise if anybody familiar with this problem...

I'm driving a PV6 year 2000.I bought it somewhere 5 months ago. At the moment I'm experiencing the same gear box problem most of the people over here face. Can anyone suggest what to do with the 'knocking' effect? Can the gear box be repaired and do anyone have the experience of doing so let me know the cost? My mechanic said the first step is to flush the gear box oil using an equipment whereby 10 litres of gear oil required. Did anyone favoured from the flushing? Please help. Some mechanics even say I have to use it till it gets spoilt completely..Funny.

I simply adores the Perdana V6 when it was first launched. So I got myself one since 2001 and the car was perfect then. Three years later, parts of the car are becoming loose with noise everywhere eg. car seats are rattling and the leather is getting harder. Lately, I suspect the suspension has worn out the car is wobbling when traveling at 80 kph. No intention to dispose the car at this juncture, but would appreciate an advice as to how I can make good of the car that I'm having.

they use cheap leather for the perdana as my perdana leather seat is ruined now. the suspension is cheap and wears off after 3 years. please change to japanese brand suspension if you value your life.

Hai..just a suggestion. for all v6 owners who are having problems with gearbox, there are solution.don't waste money to overhaul your gearbox. have a visit to chop shop and look for mitsubishi eterna gear box (NA 2WD).mitsu's gearbox definitely a good choice.. thank you.

Hi guys!

I started this string of comments a few yrs back. surprised to see this many comments!

Anyways, I still have the same v6, three yrs older though and 150k km travelled.

Okay, it is a little asthmatic now, but it still goes okay. engine sounds a little rougher and pick-up's a little lethargic. else, it is still reliable. will be changing cars mebbe in 18 mths time. thinking of the new cefiro (teana, to some).

Comments?

Sold my Perdana V6 after 4+ years (see my comment 18th May 2003) and downgraded to smaller a 1.8 litre Toyota Altis. No regrets. My Toyota can acceleration from static position much faster than the 2.0 V6. Much responsive engine and very happy with the transmission (no thud or jerk). The suspension is soft and great for our typical badly surfaced road and ride is very comfortable. Sat in one old Altis taxi in Bangkok and the feeling still better than my old V6.

Conclusion: Perdana is an old machine with new outlook. Performance is not comparable with a many Japanese (smaller) cars. If you have a choice, think twice. Test drive other cars and you will see the difference.

Well, I am a P V6 owner since 2000 and has clocked only 78K km on it. I have read a lot of complaints n the PV6. If you find there is vibration after 1 month, please check if your alloy wheels are dented (commom problem in malaysia roeds). If your transmission jerks in between gear change, you must learn to coax it. Be gentle to it, release the accelerator a bit. The PV6 is like a TIGER CUB, powerful, but lack of confidence. For those who commented on buying a BMW or other high end car. PLease compare apple to apple. The PV6 is RM100K price and don't bring in a RM250K BMW. Of course there are difference. If you can only afford 100K budget, PV6 is the pest choice. if you can afford 250k, then go for BMW. It would be stupid for you not to. Final note: Yes! You must change your transmission oil every 15-20,000km. Send it to EON Glenmarie and no where else. By the way, I just change my timing belt complete set, some mountings, carbonVAC the air, fuel systems, change all filters) air, transmission, fuel and oil) now my PV6 purrs like a virgin. I spent RM2500.00 on the forth year. Not bad. Good luck guys. peterink.

I been using PV6 for almost 5 years 160,000KM so far so good. The Valve adjuster need replace which cost RM2K a set, any cheaper solution? For a 2 litre V6 used market value about RM65K any car can compete to this price?May be the new nissan frontier truck 2.5L turbo RM88K.

Inevitably, gear box is PV6 biggest production flaw. It is basically due to excessive heat generated from V6 engine. Try to fix transmission oil cooler (that of Mitsubishi). You will feel the difference it makes. Happy driving!
