I own a 72 ford ltd painted matte black primer, black 20" rims with a 4 inch chrome lip. flowmaster single exhaust, limo tint all around, getting some 4.10 or 4.56 gears for the rear end, a play sation, and flip out screen dvd, and 7 inch monitor has jl8 bass with 1500 watwts of amplifier. it is always getting stalked by tow truck drivers, always tring to get it in their possession, but they willnever comeupon this ltd! 400 6.6 liters of gas guzzling go slow, but great free way cruising speeds easily at 80 miles an hour with the drop and suspension kit! you may seeit at any number of sol cal car shows in 2007! I have two gran torinos they are both 1972 models. The first one is green and it was a junkyard savior. I drove that car for a year before deciding to rebuild the motor and make a full blown race car out of it.
I recently bought a 1972 gran torino sport it is red with a black vinyl top. It has a bench seat with staandard guages, but it is a fastback sportsroof car. I am currently trying to locate the original owner to try and get som information about the history of the car. All I currently know is that the car was someones highschool car that they owned for 18 years. The car originally came from Doremus in red banks new jersey and still has the original dealer sticker. I love this car And would like to let the original owner know that it is in good hands. I know the car came from manalapan new jersey like 10 minutes from Raceway park. I wonder if it had a racing past? Well Mr davidoff (I believe to be the original owner since the new 1/4 panels were sent to your address) If by chance you read this or if anyone else knows anything about the history of this car email me at saratoga59@aol.com.
I never owned a 1972 Torino, but I liked it; it had that mean styling. My friend once owned, a 1968 Torino GT 390 v8(fastback) that car was fast. I have an idea, let's all write to Ford and ask them to build a two door, rear wheel drive, Torino that looks like the 1972 Torino. Come on, tell all your friends to write. Are you all sick of seeing 4 door muscle cars, Suv's, and trucks with hood scoops on them? Well I sure am! We can all make the difference by writing to Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, for car ideas. Keep the letters clean be and nice to them. It doesn't matter what muscle car we drive, we all share that passion of cars together. Aka Carlito Carleone.
Right now I am rebuilding a 1972 Gran Torino Sport. It was my father's before he died, and it's been sitting for over 18 years, so I've been trying to restore this amazing car to pristine condition.
A letter writing campaign to bring back the '72 Torino would be a waste of time even if gas was still $1.50 a gallon and Ford was in good financial shape. No manufacturer is going to start producing a model just because they get a few hundred, or even a few thousand letters asking them to.
No Ford won't bring back the Torino. That would sort of be like bringing back the Hudson Hornet. Too big, too inefficient, and just too DATED.
The Torino was an absolutely awesome car. We owned a 1974 and it was sandwiched between two cars in a 3-car pile up. The other two cars were just about totaled (one WAS), but all the damage on the Torino was a little bit of dirt knocked off the shock units that allowed those massive bumpers to move in upon impact. Not even a cracked light lens.
I have a 1972 Gran Torino - a man's low-boy trailer came unhitched and ran into the left front of my car - pushed the frame back 2 inches - I am in desperate need of another frame - PLEASE let me know if there is one just sitting around somewhere - Thanks, Corey Hourigan 832-279-0978 hoghunter10@peoplepc.com
I have owned a 1972 Gran Torino Sport for 9 years. It has a 351C 2 barrel. I painted it 2001 Chrysler Intense Blue Pearl.
Everything chassis wise is new; bushings etc.
Now it has main seal tranny leak, which really bums me out. Any way to fix this with additives, or am I stuck with a big tranny job?
