It is my understanding that in order to import a car into the US that is a 2-stroke, or some kind of car that will NOT pass any emissions testing, well, it has to be older than 1968. US cars came with EGR systems in 1968, it was the first federally mandated requirement. Hey there, I am part of a group that will be traveling through Asia in Trabants. In order to do some promotional videos before leaving we were hoping to find one in the U.S. that we could use. The trek is to raise money for street children and we would love it if someone could help us find a car to video. Check out the website at www.trabanttrek.org and send me an email if you can help out.

London,UK resident driving a 1968 trabant bought from eBay a couple of months ago for £450. Very happy driving this quirky little car lots of fun to drive. Both cheap and reliable.
Love the gear change apparatus. Go Trabi go.
