I've now owned my 1991 black 5 speed Stealth RT 1 year, and the only thing I've ever had to get fixed was the clutch that went out on me; it cost $800.00 but was worth it. 166,000 miles and counting on a used Dodge Stealth that I bought from EBAY for $1525.00; the 2nd best car I've ever owned. Oldsmobile comes in 1st for reliability, and they aren't made anymore. I admit I took a chance when I bought it used, but they are built rock solid, and don't let anyone tell you any different. (I am tired of getting looks by dudes all the time, but I realize it's a hot car).
Asdf.
I got a 1991 dodge stealth es. it is a very fast car. if there is any honda lovers out there be prepared to lose... to a 15 year old. this car is a chick magnet.
Hey I own a 91 es and I bought it for a thousand not bad looking with its leather int. but I'm having issues withit see you let it sit for a few months next time you start it up it runs great for two or three months then starts to shut off after driving it for 35 to 40 minutes youll have to mess with some stuff under the dash start up then same thing will happen the guy I bought it from said it done it to him its go 135 k on the motor and the o/d doesn't work what should I do? someone told me that the ground wire to the brain might be loose well if someone can help me id love to drive my car with no problems.
Your problem is more than likely the ECU. I seriously doubt it is the ground wire. The 1st gen. Stealth ECUs were anything but bulletproof. The caps leak and start screwing with you. Get it rebuilt or replaced (I would say rebuilt because a new ECU costs... a lot...)
To all those drivers who trash Japanese people, understand the fact that this car is an import/domestic collaboration. One of the most respected cars in the Japanese performance categories is the 3000GT VR4. Which is the equivalent of the Stealth RT/TT. This car is the prime example of 2 worlds coming together to make a great car. If you put your differences aside, look what you get.
