Well what can I say I had just gotten a tsi for $500 and the guy had just spent a lot of money on it, but he didn't won't it anymore and he didn't know what they are worth so I think I ripped him off, but yeah... now I've got a big cam in it a t3/t4 turbo an really big intercooler and two 500cc injectors and I'm running about 23lbs of boost into her and I've beat a viper on the hwy that was a blast, but let me tell you what I won't do that again because the guy that was in the viper told me he was doin 167mph and I was just walking away fast. it was more like running away he said, but other wise I've tooken her to the drag races and on street slikes I was running in the low 11s all day at 134mph well I've got to go so just email me if yiu have any? @ joelhemi@yahoo.com.

Hi, I bought my 87 cCnquest for 300.00. It used to run great, then one day it started to stall when I give it too much pedal. I tried a new throttle position sensor, but it did not work. Should I try a new fuel pump next? Please help me fix this problem so I can enjoy my car.

To the person with the throttle response problem, It can be caused by the cpu or the mass air flow.

Hey hows it going, your problem with throttle response is more than likely your secondary fuel injector.

1. unplug your injectors and check them with a multi-meter they should be at around.12 -.13 ohms if less than that replace them or have them rebuilt.

2. don't forget to replace the TBI gasket.

Good luck,

I HAVE A TOTALLY STOCK '88 TSI AUTOMATIC W\ 16" STOCK 9" WHEELS IN THE REAR & 8" WHEELS IN THE FRONT & V RATED TIRES. W\ (IF YOU LOOK UNDER THE CAR) ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION! I DON'T KNOW WHY EVERYBODY MAKES A BIG DEAL ABOUT THE TSI'S PERFORMANCE OFF THE LINE! ON THE TOP END WHEN THE TURBO IS FULLY ENGAGED AND THE INTERCOOLER IS BREATHING I DOUBT ANY GT OR Z28 CAN TAKE A FIVE MILE RUN AT 130mph WITH THE PRECISION AND HANDLING THE TSI HAS! ESPECIALLY W\ A COUPLE OF LONG CURVES IN THE ROAD! SO THE HELL WITH THE 1\4 MILE GO LONG BABY! THIS THING HUGS THE ROAD LIKE A DEMON.

I live in the San Francisco Bay area I have a 89 conquest tsi I need to know if anyone can turn me on to a reliable mechanic in Oakland or the east bay area that can work on these cars. I really would like to hang on to it. The mechanics I run into say, That!! they can work on it 9times out of10 ends up with my "hard earned" and I'm stuck with the same problem. your help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

I just bought an 89 with 19450 miles on it... yes they are correct. The thing about finding a mechanic to work on these things is that you have to remember that these cars are close to 20 y/o. If you walk into the dealership look for the oldest mech there and ask him about it. I would suggest the Mitsubishi dealership instead of the chrysler... no other reason other than the fact that mitsubishi built the cars and some chrysler dealers never worked on them.

They can be a pain in the butt to work on, but reading the StarQuest forums will point you in the right direction...

I will enjoy mine. I sold my ttz to get this car. It was my first car and I am going to keep this one as a Sunday driver. They may not be as fast compared to the cars they competed with back in the day, but the cool factor is way above where it was. There werent that many of them to begin with and that was 20 yrs ago... pull it outta the garage today and people WTF is that? I love it.

I owned 2 87 Conquests TSIs in my early 20's. First I must say they are a great looking car and a dream to drive when they are running. Note: when they are running. If you have the money to spend to fix them its worth it, but if you're a young college kid like I was, save your money because simple parts cost a lot, and most mechanics don't have a clue how to work on them. My problems were mostly fuel injectors, and my black one ended up cranking, but never starting and no one could figure out why, so I ended up selling it for parts.

I won on ebay a $999 Conquest that has 110k on it, but has not started since 2003, but supposedly it ran in 2003.

It is decent shape and I will begin working on it immediately. I have owned one before, and know about all the problems they pose, especially injectors and clips, as well as the heads cracking. Jet heads are awful, and the elimination kits do not really work well...

I will keep everyone posted.
