We bought a 307 diesel 02 and we have had something like eight recalls or more. Now I have no brake lights due to a possible electric fault. The horn, radio and main frame computer do not work. Is everyone actually paying for all the faults other than the recalls because if you are I do not think you should have to. I would not and have not recommended this car to anyone.

I reckon the most important thing about buying a new car is the after sales service. There are those bad useless dealers and then there are really good ones. It really is an amazing car, well the latest one is anyway however there are some serious drawbacks. For starters mines the 1.6 automatic with only 4 gears! It struggles sometimes to go up an incline and refuses to down-shift when it really ought to. About 2 weeks ago, I got an emergency message on the dashboard asking me to stop the car cause the engine temperature was too high. These are things you really don't expect from a brand new car. I've had the car since brand new now and its broken down 3 times in the space of 18 months. I have a really nice central locking remote... that doesn't work. The battery gives way every 3 weeks and the laser cut key wants to break off. Peugeot's method of quality control really needs to be sorted out. They are compromising on quality whilst capitalising on cheap parts.

I have owned my 307 for just over 3 years now (i bought it with 1000 miles on the clock as an ex demonstrator from a Peugeot dealer)

Just weeks after buying the car the warning light 'antipollution fault' lit up and I took it to garage and they said it was just an electrical blip and they switched it off, this happened a total of 4 times in 2 months, the fourth time I took it in to garage, they successfully 'shut down' my car and could not restart it! I was without my car for almost two weeks whilst they sorted this out! My brakes have squealed since day one and no fault is to be found! My rear windscreen wipers do not turn themselves off (i have to stop the car and switch engine off to get them to stop!) and again Peugeot say no fault is found. And finally (and conveniently for Peugeot) My power steering pump needs replaced, 3 months after my warranty finished - even though I complained the steering was tight at my last service, 4 months ago! This with servicing and bulbs needing replaced and a rear light switch is costing me £800!!

Will my next car be a Peugeot? No thanks!!!

Bought manual 1.6 hatch at 60000 km.At 100 000km pinion bearing in gearbox failed! Rebuilt gearbox. At 115 000km piston has broken sparkplug off!. No apparent reason, the car has been driven gently and serviced meticulously. Now needs an engine rebuild. no compression in 1 cylinder so exhaust yalves also probably damaged. Coil also replaced, $500 Australian. This will be my last Peugeot having had them since the 504's 20 years ago.

I am writing this on my dad's behalf. He has a Peugeot 307 2.0 HDI SW diesel 2004. He bought it brand new and has had quite a few problems.

The most recent problem is with the fuel tank. He filled the car with £77 of fuel, and when starting to drive off noticed the fuel was spilling out onto the forecourt. £77 down the drain. He also had to wait 1 hour for the car to be recovered. The dealership have advised it will cost £724. to put right.

He has also said that sometimes the car will accelerate on it's own (but not for long), he has had his indicator stalk replaced, windscreen wipers have a mind of their own. All of the brake lights went on the car. He has also had a complete new steering rack.

He has said he will never buy another Peugeot again.

I am very interested in the 'squeaking' aspect of some of the comments. I have a, wait for it, 2002 307 1.6 rapier, it has developed a squeaking noise every time I use the clutch. I refuse to use the main Peugeot dealer so took it to my local garage who are normally very good and have a good reputation. However after 4 attempts, and after replacing part of the exhaust, they still haven't solved the problem. I took it back today, the mechanic said he had put some 'extremely expensive grease' on the joints, but this has had little effect. So far they have charged me around £150, not bad I guess considering the times they have seen it, but its still not sorted. Should I now take it to my Peugeot garage and pay over the odds?

Peugeot 307 1.6SE...I recently bought the 307 last week (its BRAND NEW) from our local Peugeot dealer and guess what, after a week, when I got back from shopping mall and after starting on my engine, its very HARD to turn my STEERING! it has a problem with the power steering at the mileage of 890 KM ONLY!! believe it or not! My previous car was a VW POLO and I've been driving it for almost 4 years and I never experienced such problems! I really missed my VW!

I have a Peugeot 307 1.4 petrol 5 speed. I have had the car almost four years and have had no end of trouble with it.

The first problem was the indicators not canceling when the steering was corrected, this was changed quickly under warranty.

At 23000 miles the exhaust (center piece) fell off on the motorway.

The car is a 3 door and cannot be locked manually from the passenger side, and the solenoid in that door went, and therefore I could not lock the car.

Now it appears that I have some sort of suspension problem, a serious knocking sound when turning mainly to the left, though the problem is slowly getting worse.

After taking it to the garage, they changed the anti-roll bar linkages to no avail.

If anyone else has had a similar problem, any advice would be appreciated as my previous garage could not rectify the problem, and hourly labor costs are so expensive. Thanks.

I had a knocking from under the car. The bushes seemed to be fine, but it went in for an MOT today and failed, the front off side bush had gone.

My Peugeot 307 steering failed. A local repairer took out the rack and sent it to a reputable Sydney Rack repairer who stated that he has five of the 307 racks with the same rusted out steering rod on his shelves.

Other 307 owner friends have since found the same problem.

Repair cost varies between $1040 and $1900,

I have informed my dealer, but they are not recognizing it as a design fault as yet, but are willing to discuss further.

How many other 307 rod racks above the seal rust out after only 60 000 kms or less? Or need replacing? Are there more of you out there?
