My wife's 2005 XG350 is an overall good vehicle, however, we too have experienced the same issues as some others. The Airbag light in particular. it has been back to the dealer 6 times, the latest being 27 Sep 07. Got the same story at first "the wiring connector under the drivers seat" baloney. Now after six dealer trips the dealer claims it's probably a bad wiring harness and they need to contact the Hyundai tech department and they in turn will contact me. Very, very poor service as far as I am concerned.
I purchased my XG350L new and drove it for five years without any problems. The dealer replaced the battery once for free and I changed it to a Die Hard. Really haven't had any problems with my car I guess I have been lucky. It has 80,000 miles on it now and I have finally seen a couple rust spots which I promptly sprayed and treated. The car has always started after sitting outside in the snow. It has been completely covered with snow and it still started. The heated seats are a big help. I am going to sell it soon and buy an AZERA. I am sold on Hyundai. You just can't beat the price for what you get in return. No I do not work for Hyundai. I simply have enjoyed the past 5 years of worry free driving.
We have a 2002 XG 350 with over 75,000 miles. It has been a great car. We have just experienced our first problem. The power steering fluid is leaking. Hopefully, we will get this fixed up and everything will be good again!
I agree with all the comments posted here about surging and hesitation. I also noticed that the Traction control has exactly the same issues (I think they are related). The Traction Control hesitates so much that I get stuck in snow. I usually turn it off on an icy or snow covered road. It is unfortunate that Hyundai has virtually abandoned all support of this model. This has resulted in some Hyundai customers moving away from Hyundai vehicles all together.
I purchases a Hyundai XG350 in September of 07. I have had the car in the shop 3 times in the last three months. First the check engine light came on and the dealer replaced the fuel charcoal canister. Next my radio would not work with the rear defrost on and I opted out of repairing this. Next the check engine light came on and the dealer replaced the fuel canister valve and filter. As of today my check engine light is on again. I was extremely hesitant about buying a Hyundai and now wish I would have trusted my instincts. I have also noticed the same problem with the traction control and always turn it off when maneuvering through snow. I will not buy another Hyundai. I will buy a Lincoln.
