Comparing this to a TL is ridiculous. The Acura has everything one would ever want plus performance. This is my third Acura and I can afford a Lexus.

I have a 94 Lexus Es 300, the car runs great, its the second lexus I've owned, had a 92 LS 400 before this, and a 94 toyota camry, big difference. but the current es 300 runs great, but for some reason the AC and radio shut off and come on as they please, I've traced all the wires and can't find any defect, tested the connections and there good, so I don't understand what it could be,if any one hs any experience with this issue itd be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a 94 ES300 and I LOVE IT! The only problems that it has is the fuel door clip broke, the needle lights burnt out and the right light for the climate control bar burnt out (the lights are part of regular maintenance)... any car needs and requires regular maintenance! (even your precious Acura's) After 12 years this car can still run with the new ones... just needs to be taken care of. After all... this is a LUXURY car, not a POS honda. (I even seriously thought about getting a honda, now I am very pleased I did not) -Christina.

For the person that said replacing the water pump is routine maintenance, you are sorely wrong. That is NOT routine maintenance! I've owned half a dozen different vehicles of various makes. The only car I ever had to replace the water pump on due to failure was my '88 Toyota Camry, which left me stranded at a busy intersection and the only car to ever leave me stranded. I'm sorry to inform you a failed water pump is reliability related, NOT maintenance. If it were a maintenance item, it would be specified at what intervals to change it in your owners manual. Don't bother looking because it won't be listed.

Water pumps are not a maintenance item, BUT!, even on my 1991 Honda Accord the dealer strongly suggested that I replace it because the cost of replacing it when it fails will be just as much as when you change the time belt because the pump sits behind the belt.

I've owned 35 cars. my 94 es300 is the 36th and so far I've dumped a lot of money in it I got the car at a auction so I can't be mad that it needed work like they say you buy someone else problems.I've changed the hole front end so far minus struts. and have a oil leak in the front can't seem to see where its coming from. overall I love the car, but just have problems the rear motor mount cost 35$ for the part 110$ to change. but every thing they sell meaning parts for your car they know will break sooner or later so you do have to maintain it. it is a car and at some time something will break don't be mad fix it and deal with it if you want a super car with no problems ask n.a.s.a to build you one...lol.

I just purchased an ES300 1994 with 162,000 miles from an Airline pilot who was the second owner, for my 20 year old daughter. With the car, I received every bill for maintenance from day one. In the last 2 years he had just replaced the timing belt and water pump ($479) for the 1st time in the cars history, 3 of the brake calipers and all 4 rotors (Midas-$763), just changed the oil and had flushed the trans. fluid twice in the 4 years he owned it. Retails for $5500, he sold it to me for $2000 and because it's originally from OHIO (I live in Florida) it's gonna need a muffler soon; that's general maintenance, I believe? All in all, from the records (I guess) it is really based on the owner is my point as to how well it runs and for how long. Oh, also wanted to say it's got 3,000 mile old Yokahama tires. WOW I think this car is GREAT, because every bell and whistle still works, and it does not leak or burn any oil.

It does need a revolution sensor on the A/C, as it runs 90% of the time and cuts out once in a while.
