I PURCHASED A 2000 OLDSMOBILE ALERO, 4 CYLINDER. SINCE, MY FRONT BRAKES, DRUMS AND BACK BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. RECENTLY, MY CAR WAS OVER HEATING. MY MECHANIC CHARGED ME $600 TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP. AND OF COURSE, THE CEILING LIGHT CONTINUES TO FALL OUT... Other than THAT, I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 2 TIMES. MY CAR, MY BABY, HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ME. MY OPINION, I WILL BUY AN ALERO AGAIN...
Wow, some of these things are no brainers, there's a rod knocking, but I kept driving it instead of fixing it, and the engine blew. Bad sounds from cv joints, well no crap, these things go out, especially at over 100,000 miles. That's normal.
I don't own one, but I can say from what I have read, is that about 80% of this is owner negligence. I guess that being a mechanic in the US Army, I have seen my fair share of screwed up vehicles, and maintenance is key. But even for the average joe, come on y'all.
