If its from the lights I'm sure you could have been a bit behind if the subaru had been used to its full potential, by that I mean a brutal AWD launch.

Subaru impreza times.

Gsi times (look right at the bottom)

Now whats faster???

AWD will kill a ff in handling.

People keep talking crap about who they could beat. Half the time the other people are not even racing. Look at the times and oooooohhh guess what...That's HOW FAST THEY ARE!!!

I don't need to look at specs I've seen them, the impreza is faster 0-60 and 0-100. But I wasn't talking about that anyway.

Fair comment but having owned scooby stis, you really have to launch them hard to get a good 0-60 time, and this as I found out strips gear cogs and diff crown wheels!! (ltd ed sti v ltd!)

OK in a rally car but wouldn't do it on the road!!

The gsi on the other hand have a stronger gearbox and although they may suffer some wheelspin id rather replace tyres than gearboxes especially 4x4 ones.

In my opinion both are good cars and both are bred from different places the scoob was derived from rally stages and the astra a quick hatch for the road.

Put the astra on a stage and it wouldn't stand much chance, but out on the road I think the astra would be the better car to own.

I don't think Astra GSI boxes are stronger than an STI gearbox some how, the STI box would be stronger because of the fact it has 4WD, it has to take more strain because there is no wheelspin. And the grip in the wet makes it an excellent car for the road.
