After 3+ years of repeated trips to the Holden Service Department with the same problems of stalling and Engine Warning Lamps on my Vectra a friend advised a visit to an Auto Electrician who is a Bosch Specialist, he tested the vehicle and advised I have a System Voltage problem which is causing the vehicle to lose power - the Triple Guard Light comes on intermittently.

To fix this problem the vehicle needs to be stripped down - I believe Holden know this, but it's all too hard so I keep getting fobbed off with new problems for the same faults.

My options - find a Vectra specialist (is there such a thing) / pay for vehicle to be stripped down (at great expense) / or wait until the problem worsens so they can isolate the fault - a great comfort.

Curious to know how an Auto Electrician with presumedly the same test equipment as Holden can isolate a fault in minutes when I have repeatedly had the car to Holden with no real answers.

I can't believe I didn't find these comments before I bought a Vectra 98 2lt.

Not happy. In the last year we have spend $10000 on repairs, which is more than it is worth now. Still having problems and have just been told I need to get the IACV replaced. Lovely.

Oh and I had the same problem where the car jerks around and the engine light comes on, it was 4 sensors that needed replacing, the crank angle being one of them.

Hate the car. Won't ever buy Holden again. I just want to sell it, but I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night if I sold this problem to anyone else.

I agree... I wish I found this site before I bought the Vectra, which cost me 9000 to buy early last year...

I have since then spent more than that just trying to keep it going...

Steering, locks, boot, timing belt snap, top end rebuild, oil leaks one after the other...

This has been the biggest mistake of my life, as I'm only 19...

Its currently sitting out the front of my mechanics with a destroyed gearbox... I still owe most of the loan, but I've given up, taken the plates off it, and I'm going to go find a cheap reliable car...

I WILL NEVER EVER EVER buy a Vectra or let my friends buy one... it's not a Holden thing... Opel, Vauxall... go to hell.

Another unhappy Vectra owner here. In the 5 months I have had the car I have had the following problems:

Timing belt replaced

Drive belt replaced

Exhaust manifold to be repaired

Coolant system draining (no leak)

Power cutout whilst driving (which affects brakes, steering)

Gearbox is very poor.

These things are lemons, no other way to put it. Make a P76 look reliable.
