Hi again everyone, Gary here.
Been a while since my last visit, but I see everyone has moved to Johns new site, so see you there. Bye!
Hi All, tried to use the new forum, but couldn't get on, I have a 1972 Commer PB with a Jenning road ranger camper conversion on, the engine runs, but needs attention to brakes, the body is aluminium on a wooden frame and the cab is steel, the cab requires work, the outer chassis rails are shot and need replacing, but the two inner ones seem OK. The interior is pretty much original, but the bathroom was removed by previous owner. I do not have any time to work on this van and do not want to see her broken for spares so offer her free to a good home. if anyone interested please cal 07773 327355 or email bedfordcf250@yahoo.com, van is located in west yorkshire, england.
Hi,
I have joined the Commervanfan.co.uk group, but I can only access it from work as when I get home I cannot remember what I add to the end of this web site address to get past the home page. My works computer goes in at a different web page and goes around the first 'home' page.
Its quite interesting when you can get in.
Rob.

I had a commer 2500 camper 5 years ago whilst travelling in Australia. It was running on a Holden 3 litre straight 6 and sounded great! I broke 6 UV joints on the driveshaft and broke the diff, but that added to the fun The past owner had managed to fuse half commer driveshaft with a Holden's up to a Holden rear axle/diff system. I managed to drive right the way around Australia with a full size union jack mounted on a broom stick on top of the roof, I really miss the old girl nicknamed "Calma" and I cherish the memories and photo's of it.
Kepp on truck'in!
Hi all I have just bought a comer Pb I think from bristol..

Ryan ryandj666@hotmail.com.
Hi ryan, couldn't tell you the reg of the old girl, I never really got round to remembering it.
Mine was painted in ford diamond white over original green. the sills were painted in hammerite, the line followed all the way round the van.
The windows were etched with an old 'H' suffix.
Nigel.

Hello everyone, I have just bought a 1972 commer highwayman, and it is currently in the garage awaiting work for the MOT.
The rubber seal around the windscreen is perished, does anybody know if it is fairly standard and can be replaced? Also the rubber on the door where it meets the window is missing and there is some rust. Will it take bodyfiller here and can I get replacement rubber for it?
Thanks! John.

I have restored a Sleep master, I have redone the inside, but kept it to the original style. I have fitted disc brakes to the front, a Toyota 5 speed, and mini lite style wheels. It was rusted around the bottom, so I rebuilt the bottom panels, it was a task to redo the grooves, but they turned out OK. The plan is to use it on a tour around Australia. It's light blue with a white top. Happy motoring, Peter.
Hi
I am looking for a Commer Walk Thru van to restore.
I have always wanted to own one, and have now decided at the grand old age of 46 that I can contribute to ensuring the marque continues in enthusiasts rallies around the UK.
If anyone one knows of where such a beauty is hiding, (any condition considered) then please get in touch.
Many thanks in taking the time to read this.
Regards Gerry.
Hi.
I am considering putting a diesel engine into my 1978 dodge campervan. Two of the valves are burnt out and rather than fix it, I thought I'd look into replacing it with a diesel engine. Anyone done this before? any advice on particular diesel engines that fit into these vehicles would be much appreciated.
Thanks
nancy.

i know of a petrol walk thru in pretty good nick over in Wales, get in touch if you want me to send you some details - benitveal@hotmail.com.
By the way, does anyone know what's happened to www.commervanfan.com?
Simon.
Hi My name is Paul, I have bought a 74 PB camper Autosleeper. parts have been OK to find so far www.speedyspares.co.uk & www.rootesparts.com also www.commervan.com has excellent information. I'm gutted that I have to pay road tax. I have enjoyed reading some of your comments and cannot believe that the commer is so rare compared to the VW. My van is a 5 berth camper and turns heads better than any VW. Yet there are no clubs. Does anyone know if you can change the rear axle and therefore the diff ratio so that at cruising speed (55) I can still have a conversation?
