Well, I am a Range Rover man, they can do things no HUMMER has dreamed of doing. Type in CAMEL TROPHY in your browser and look at what you see (or rent a video). A Rover will outperform any HUMMER hands down!!!
You know nothing about cars!!! American cars are useless gas guzzling wastes of space buy a normal car like British people and if you want character buy a mini a true classic unlike the hummer h2 and h1 and whats wrong with diesel!!!
Its good to see that so many of you have your own personal opinions. And that is exactly what they are. I have reviewed many off road vehicles before purchasing a Hummer H2. It is by far the most rugged vehicle perfectly suited for what I need. If you want small and economy buy Japanese, if you want undependable buy British, if you want rugged, but also refined buy a hummer, drive the snot out of it all day off road, wash it down clean it up and take your lady out to the swankiest night spot around. Thats American Class just like the Hummer.
If you can't afford stick with what you can afford.
Hummers are passe now. They don't get 5% of the attention they got just a few years ago.
THE H2 IS A MARKETING PLOY. If they were seriously producing the H2 as the most off-road capable machine on the market, they would have made the windows a bit bigger. Some off-roaders go so far as to take their doors off in order to view wheel placement. The day GM produces an H2 with easily removable doors and a standard roll cage is the day I respect the H2. Also, if the H2 is the best why are they making different versions such as the H3?
The truth is that the truck was produced for the American public by GM in America because they knew that American's must have everything bigger and better than the next guy. It's a pissing contest. An even harder truth is that the most dirt most of these H2's see is the dirt left on the road from Joe Offroader who just pulled off the trail in a Jeep. H2's are nothing, but status symbols on and off the road.
The bottom line is that GM is in the business to make money. They made a vehicle that they knew the American public wouldn't be able to resist. We have become very independent. Almost every American is ingrained by the media to be this way. They instill values such as individualism and the quest to be unique. They do this so we Americans consume more. If everyone has the need to feel individual, than everyone will each buy their own "unique" car, own a 4 bedroom house for 2 people, and faithfully go to Super Wal-Mart every Saturday.
That seems to be the American way these days. Consume consume consume. Take more than you need and to hell with the consequences. Isn't that right H2 owners? Didn't you buy the H2 to be set apart from everyone else. To be "unique." Well guess what, your neighbor just bought an H2 just like yours in the same color. How's that for conformity? Unique, but the same. I am willing to wager that you H2 owners even feel a bit angry or less unique when you see another H2 exactly like yours.
I bet all you H2 owners are denying all this. That's OK. Denial is the first step to recovery.
You know what, I think we should just get it over with, form a line, bend over, and allow companies like GM and Walmart rape our country and environment while we hand them our wallets and say thank you.
Aren't we here to rate vehicles? People get so carried away with ripping on other people on these sites. The H2 is simply a waste of everything from the materials to build it to the gas to move it. They are small on the inside considering their girth. Where I live in NY they are viewed solely as status symbols. There aren't even any trails for miles and miles to go off roading on. Every time I see one it is spotless like the owner is afraid to get it dirty. They should be... the amount of money lost in depreciation on one of these has got to be unbelievable. If it isn't absolutely mint when you try to sell it you'll lose your shirt! I just can't understand why people want to commute in a vehicle like this. Most of the ones I see don't even have trailer hitches on them so they are basically used as cars. Very irresponsible...
Two words: Land Cruiser.
Funny how people get upset about a Hummer being wasteful.
Any top-of-the-range Porsche, BMW, any Rolls-Royce or Bentley, any SLR McLaren or other exotic supercar is just as wasteful.
Especially the 2 seater's.
And a Bugatti Veyron at over a million dollars!
And why not slate people who can afford a jet airplane or a private yacht?
No, we're just jealous of the rich.
I keep reading over and over how wasteful the Hummers are, the gas mileage is basically the same as all the other SUVs such as the Suburban, Tahoe, etc. The people that drive it like the styling of it. If the people in this country would put as much effort into helping the less fortunate as they do mouthing their judgements, this world would be a much better place. Live and let live and if you want to make a difference, quit running off you mouth and do something that actually makes a difference like volunteering at a homeless shelter.
I do not care!!! when my dealer calls, I know I will run down to pick it up.
Two more words: Lada Niva.
I agree with everone else that hummers are huge, but my personal opinion on the h2 is that its Ugly as crap they make me sick, why don't you just go buy you a nice truck or something if you want offroad go get you a Gmc Sierra Z-71 Jack it up and put some nice tires on it and a flowmaster, and it will still be 50gs less than a HUmmer.
Well, I liked the Hummer when I first saw it, just because it was so very different. I also liked the new VW Beetle, the PT Cruiser and the new BMW Mini, but nowadays you see them so often and the appeal is gone.
The Hummer as well as all these other V8 5-6 l+ engines should be prohibited!!!
Even I feel guilty driving my 2000 Toyota 4Runner in the city even though it still has some reasonable mileage. Nobody really cares about the environment - certainly the "big 3" do not. All these gas waster they put on sale is a crime!
Well, enjoy riding these tanks while you can. Hopefully someone puts an end to it some day soon - otherwise it'll be too late (maybe it is already)
