I have experienced the same problem as all the above parties. I have a 2000 Buick LeSabre which has 65,000 miles on it and I replaced the driver side window regulator in July and the rear right window just fell. I have ordered the replacement for it. A friend and I were able to replace the part in less than an hour, but it is totally ridiculous for Buick to continue putting such a shoddy piece of equipment in their cars. Toyota begins to look a whole lot better come replacement time. I have had the car for 7 years and have been really pleased with its performance. It is a fine riding and operating vehicle, except for the window regulators. I have had a couple of minor problems, but overall good service. This does not excuse Buick from ducking a problem that they are aware of and could care less about. That is a very sure way of losing loyal buyers.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one.I have 2002 Buick Le Sabre. The right front passenger window regulator went out. I was told that it is plastic and not made to last very long. I however called a salvage yard and was able to get it fixed for less than $100.00. Now, I have a problem with the ON/OFF cruise control switch not working in the steering wheel. Wonder if I can fix this myself? We hardly EVER turn it off which makes me wonder, Why did it go out???

I have a 2002 Le Sabre with 37,000 miles on it. I have had both driver side windows fail in the last 3 months. This is ridiculous and Buick should recall. My co worker has a 2001 (I believe 60,000 miles) and he just had to replace one as well.

Buick should recall this, $450 to make a window work properly is absurd.

I posted here a moment ago (2002 Le Sabre 2 bad windows) I just posted my complaint at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/. Has anyone contacted a lawyer or anything? This is ridiculous, $450 to make a window work properly.

We have a 2000 Buick Le Sabre with 4 bad windows, same problem as others have had. This will be the last GM car for us. They should have fixed the problem immediately instead of continuing to produce the same part for subsequent years. Even the replacement part is not corrected!

We acquired our 2000 Buick from my father in laws estate after he died. When we got the car, the back driver side window was down a couple inches. We had it repaired, over 400. for a new regulator and motor. Last week the passenger side window would not go back up. The motor made a noise and window stayed in the down position. Waiting for the part (regulator) to come in at repair shop for another 400.

Two down two to go, I guess. Makes us afraid to use the power window button.

I have a 2001 Buick Regal with window problems, also. This started about 2 or 3 years ago. They would not work sometimes. Then a while later they would work. The back passenger window finally quit working completely in the down position. The Buick place bolted it in the up position as I couldn't afford several hundred dollars to replace regulator and motor. Now the passenger right is stuck halfway down. It is cold out this morning. After reading all this, I won't buy another Buick, either.

I can join the crowd. My 2001 La Sabre has the same window problem. The two rear windows were replaced within 3 months of each other. I happened to talk to mechanic who worked for a local GM dealership, and he told me the window problem is

very common. At a cost of $483. per window, GM and its dealers are doing quite well replacing them.

I have to join the long list of very unhappy Buick owners. I have a 2001 Buick LeSabre Custom and am currently waiting for my 2nd window regulator in less than 3 months to come in. I have found them on line from between $85 to $125 plus $40 to have it installed. After reading all the posts on here I guess I should consider myself lucky as far as cost to repair, but I find myself with rising blood pressure due to the total indifference with which Buick/GM has addressed this problem. I do hope that somebody knows the proper way to address this issue legally from a consumer standpoint. Arrogance by a company should never be tolerated.

The hits just keep on coming... on my Dad's 2000 Lesabre with 45,000 miles, right front passenger side window is out with the driver's side rear "going out" sometime soon. Dealer wants over $500 to fix the problem. This is crazy, and I feel GM has a real lack of respect for their customers ignoring this issue.

Owner of a 2000 LeSabre. Same basic comment as others. Both rear windows and front passenger side broke all within a few weeks of each other. I read through this forum before and was told I could find all 3 replacement parts on ebay or 1A Autoparts. They all came with both the regulator and new motors attached. These parts are very easy to replace, if you have just a little mechanical knowledge. There are only 3 10mm bolts that hold each regulator to the door frame and 2 10mm bolts that clamp on the window. The 2 on the window are easier to remove when the window is pushed up in the closed position. The hassle really is getting the door panel off. The rear door panel is held on by just "snap" bolts. They can be pried (carefully) with just a screwdriver. Then you have a black plastic cover lining the door. This is held in place with a black tar caulking material. Once this is out of the way, you will see the 3 bolts and then the 2 holes to get to the ones holding the glass. The wire connections are not that difficult to unsnap. Use a little patience unbolting and taking the old one out. It'll come out with a little muscle. The new one will do the same. The only thing you need to know about the door panels is, there are some plastic connectors in the middle of it. I don't know how to remove without breaking them (they don't hold much of anything anyway). The front door panel has a small 7mm bolt behind the reflector. The tools you will need are a 10mm deep well socket, a small extension, 10mm open end wrench (for the front door top bolt) a 7mm socket (front door panel bolt behind reflector) and a flat head screwdriver (to be used as a small pry bar). I had all 3 replaced within 2 hours. I bought the parts for about $75 each including delivery. $225 later, I'm done.

Hope this helps as it did me about a month ago. Good luck.

Here's another similar 2000 Buick Le-Sabre window regulator horror story. Car only has 55,450 miles on it. In fact except for the driver's side window, all other three windows almost never used. Probably no more than 25-30 times in total for all of those three windows combined were the windows opened at all. And yet, today, 11/27/2006 after just having the 2nd regulator in this car fixed (in this case the back right window just 2 weeks ago for between $450 - $500), now I simply try to lower the right front window to remove some morning dew off of it and what do you know, window goes up a couple of inches and stops. Another fried motor. My Left back window went about a year ago and was fixed for at that time over $450, so I now have 3 failures. In fact, the only window I have never had failed yet is the driver's side window and that strangely is the most widely used one and I'm sure its about ready to go next anytime now. If I get this latest regulator fixed shortly & I have to as winter is fast approaching here in CT., I don't think I can any longer use any of the windows, not even at a drive through ATM or fast food place - I wouldn't have the confidence that it would go back up. This is certainly ridiculous & very expensive. I for one will join anybody filing a class-action lawsuit if it can be arranged. In fact the last time I saw my Buick dealer to fix the last one he said to me he has seen cars come in with all four regulators needing to be replaced - this is insane. Always been a GM owner and in fact I own two other GM cars, a 1998 Chevy Lumina with 70,000 miles and a 2000 Olds Alero with 128,000 miles, and not one of those 8 power windows ever failed, so how do you figure that? We must fight back!

Wow, I can’t believe what I am reading. You have all described the exact problem I am having and thank you for providing the solution! After owning 4 GM vehicles, this 2000 Buick LeSabre will be the last one! With a history of a failed transmission at 30K miles, failed antilock system at 55K, corroded brake lines at 60K and the now the failed windows at 61K Toyota looks better and better.

I also acquired my 2000 Buick from my father-in-law when he passed. I have replaced all four window units at a cost of $400.00 each. The car only had 23,300 miles on it when I received it - it now has 33,000. I hope the replacement windows last longer than the original!!!
