And here is yet another story about a broken window regulator on a 2002 LeSabre. It is the left rear, probably used 20 times total. My last car was a 94 LeSabre with almost 180,000 miles. I had repaired a couple of window problems on it, but the mechanism was built to last. I couldn't believe GM had put such a shoddy piece of engineering into the modern windows. The manager responsible probably got a huge promotion for the cost savings.

I just bought a 2000 Buick Lesabre and you guessed it my left rear window started up popped and fell to the down position. I pushed it up and the very next day the right rear window did the exact same thing. I will never buy another GM product again. It is a shame because it is such a good running car except the windows.

Just bought 2000 LeSabre. L Rear window held up with 2x4. Electric tape over RF switch to remind driver not to use it. I guess I 'll be fixing these. I will fix any 2000-2005 LeSabre in the Cincinnati area for $200 ea.

I, too, am a victim of GMs poor window design. My 2000LeSabre LTD was bought in Sept 2000. I lost the first window in October 2003 (3 years and 3 days later). Then in Jan 2004 (3 months later) I lost two more windows even though we seldom used the windows. Now it is August 2007 and at 54000 miles the fourth window regulator malfunctioned. Having an extended warranty with CNA was of no help because they will only cover the problem if it is caused by the motor not the regulator (even though the motor and regulator are sold as one part which cost me $450). GMC has certainly used poor judgement in not correcting this. No amt of advertising will convince me to buy another Buick. GMC is their own worst enemy.

My wife bought a 2002 Buick LeSabre 18 months ago. It now has 63,000 miles. Four months ago as we were driving into town, we heard one loud snapping sound. It turned out to be the right passenger window. When I tried to lower it, it dropped and wouldn't come back up. The GM dealer in town charged me $540 to fix it. Well, today, as my wife was driving home from work, BANG!!!, the same thing happened to the driver's side rear window. I doubt if either of these windows had ever been rolled up or down a dozen times. We have certainly not exercised them. I'm not happy about another $540 with two more windows left to go.

All 4 power windows have failed on my 2002 Buick Le Sabre at between 68,000 miles and 75,000 miles. The classic failure is a pop noise followed by the glass dropping down inside the door.

The latest problem however is the drivers side window now fails to open in hot Florida summer weather. This is a pain at tollbooths. However, when the car is in cooler New England this window performs flawlessly!

I would gladly buy a new 2008 Buick Lucerne, but they are not available with manual windows.

Do you honestly think this is a problem with all Buicks? This issue was only on 2000-2005 LeSabres. The new models do not use the same mechanicals as the late model LeSabre. If you truly like the Lucerne, fear of window regulators would be a silly reason not to buy.

2002 LeSabre, 53,000 and have the same results as you've seen in other comments. Last month, right rear window failed, today, left rear window failed. And, in HOT summer weather, right passenger window and/or driver side window fail to operate.

The windows falling to a full open position does present a safety factor that should not be ignored by Buick. A safety-inspection notice should be issued with AT LEAST a discount offered since it's a recognized engineering/materials failure.

Additionally, if it were raining or snowing or when temps were at an extreme it becomes a comfort issue as well.

I just bought a 2000 LeSabre. A day after I bought it, the passenger window jammed and fell. I have repaired 3 of these in my wife's 2000 Bonneville, but I looked on eBay and they have replacements for $57 with freight. Sure they maybe cheap China junk, but they are a lot cheaper than the American made junk. I received the regulator and it works great.

The very next day it was about 150 degrees in the car, so I rolled down all the windows, and they all went down except for the drivers side. Motor must be bad? The bad thing is that the two other windows that have the old regulators all went bad. I just fixed one and three more went bad. I ducked taped the 2 windows up that went bad and ordered 3 new window regulators. All 4 windows in the first week of owning the car. Search on ebay for the regulators and you will find many cheap subs for the expensive OEM. Google on how to replace them and you could replace all your regulators for 1/2 the price of going to the dealership.

Looks like I'm the next member of the club, I didn't realize this was such a problem. I had one rear window repaired last year, and now my front passenger window will not operate. Based on cost and the number of complaints I'm just going to disconnect the operator. I've filed a complaint with the NHTS, but I doubt GM will ever address the defect. My next car will be a Toyota.

Replacement regulators also will fail. Suggestion: keep several 11/2 or 2" suction cups aboard. When it fails, pull the window up, wet the suction cup, and push it against the bottom of the window just above the frame. Easier than tape and looks much better. Had left rear blocked up yesterday, right rear fell today; 2001 Le Sabre.

I have had my 2001 Le Sabre one year.

There was a loud bang on LR window yesterday. Couldn't see any damage. Accidentally lowered LR instead of LF today, CRAP!!! Window drops almost all the way down. I remembered seeing this list right after I bought it. I looked again today and sure enough, it's still growing and seems to be happening faster too.

Thanks to everyone for the leads to regulators and tips. I will be doing the DIY install. I sure hope it's easier than doing a 71 T-bird! Suction cups should be standard equipment on these lemons; at least you can keep the rain and heat out when you're caught out on the road!

I really love the junk switches all over the inside. I've replaced the cruise control on/off switch, headlight dash panel switches, and drivers side master for door locks and windows switches in last year.

To top it all off, I heard another bang near the RR window, but I guess I will be able to get that job done a little faster with all the valuable experience I'm about to get with the first one. That's right GM and BUICK; tons of sarcasm in this note! I will never forget how your once great companies let me down again!

I have a 2003 Buick Le sabre that I am now having problems with the right side passenger window. The window will no longer go up. When I push the window button, there is some grinding and you can hear the sound of the motor working.

The window stays in the closed position.

It appears that a lot of other people have had the same problem. Mine just occurred yesterday and I am hoping the rain stays away until I am able to take it in and get it fixed.

I am hoping someone can assist me in letting me know how to take the door panel off as if I can put the window in the up position and leave it there, I will not have to spend the $500.00 to fix it. Thank You.

To all who post here.

Call the DOT Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and a NHTSA representative will record your complaint information.

I just called to file my complaint regarding my 2000 Buick Le Sabre's 3 out of 4 window failures. I was told that the number of complaints are in the several hundred range. If we all file complaints, a recall may be initiated, and we will be reimbursed for our expensive repairs. Don't even waste your time calling Buick, as they are not going to help you unless they are forced, via recall, to do so. They will never have my business in the future.

Both front and rear drivers side windows have failed on my 2000 Le sabre within a 3 week period. The front one was replaced at a Buick dealership for $398.00 parts and labor. I was advised to search the Internet for less expensive parts. I found an ebay power-seller with an excellent positive feedback rating. The total cost of the rear regulator including shipping was $46.99! It was shipped the morning I ordered it by UPS ground, and arrived in 4 days. I have not yet installed it, but it has a warranty. It is a new part, and looks great. The sellers ebay ID is smartpartsaftermarket. I am not a friend or associate of this seller.
