I own a 2001 LeSabre which I bought from my father-in law. I am now on my 3rd regulator in less than 12 months. Filed my complaint today, just hope that enough people file their complaints so that we can get some compensation from Buick.

We owned 4 Buick LeSabre's. We have a 2003 and 1994 Buick LeSabre. Our son has our 2000 Buick LeSabre and within the last 3 months we have replaced 3 out of the 4 window motors at a cost of over $400.00 a window on that car. The fourth window will probably need replacing also because it works when it feels like it. Just got done filing a complaint with NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Hope others will do the same to get a recall on GM's faulty windows. Shame on you GM for not addressing this problem.

I am visiting my mother in FL and she owns a 2000 Buick LeSabre. 3 out of the 4 power windows have stopped working and the going rate is up to $500 bucks a pop to fix! I'm thinking of taping them all shut for good at this point. Luckily the driver side front window is still functioning, for how long, nobody knows...

I have a 2000 LaSabre limited that I bought used. I have the records from the previous owner and he replaced 2 window regulators. I now have 2 more that need replaced; one went down today with our first snow. Contacted dealer and it will be $400 or more to fix. I think I'll try the DIY method with the suggestions from others on this site. I will also file a complaint. GM really needs to step up and fix this. Thanks to all for comments.

So, I'm not alone with the 2000 Buick LeSabre window problems.

My driver side window hasn't worked for 3 years. I can live with that, but this summer the left rear window refused to close after a friend put it down when he drove it home from dropping us off at the airport. We were able to manually lift it in place, but it would gradually work its way back down.

Then the other day, the right rear window fell down completely. It was a little more difficult to lift back up, but if I keep the window lock on, it seems to stay up longer.

I got a quote from my local auto clinic last week - $1100 to fix all three windows. I decided to forget about fixing the cruise control which went out 3 years ago.

We're working together now to get the best replacement part for the windows, as I'd like to keep the car. It only has 30,000 miles on it.

I am going to register a complaint, also. Good luck to everyone. This shouldn't be something we need to be discussing, as it looks like the company recognized the problem years ago.

I've joined the long list of Buick window regulator failures. Le Sabre '02, owned since new, with 57,000 miles. Little use of the right rear window, but it dropped into the down position. I'm going with the aftermarket regulator, awaiting FedEx as I type. The door panel removes easily with a tool available for $7.00 in just about any parts store, called a door panel remover. Here's a link on how to remove the door panel. It is easy!

I hope the aftermarket regulator holds up. Yes, I'm going to pull fuse #57 to kill power to the windows. Will also think about getting a different ride.

We have a 2000 Buick LeSabre purchsed new in Oct. 2000. It currently has 45,000+ miles. Three window regulators were replaced by dealer under original warranty, and the fourth replaced shortly after warranty expired, but the dealer still covered repair. Yesterday the right rear window failed, sticking in the open position. We called the dealer and suggested that this was obviously a faulty design, and he was quick to agree to fix at no cost. Today I took the car in and a new regulator was installed under "warranty". Failure was due to broken cable in regulator.

My suggestion: Try to convince authorized Buick dealer to fix before authorizing repair. They apparently have some leeway in making repairs under "warranty" but not wanting to admit design fault and issuing formal recall. Good luck.

Everyone, I've read all the comments about the power window failures with great interest. Why? I have a 2003 Buick Regal and just completed my 7th regulator replacement last week (I kid you not.) I have owned this car since it was new and love it-except for the window problem. The service manager at the dealership where I bought the car said the cheap piece of plastic GM uses for the regulator (clip?) doesn't hold up very long if you live in a hot climate (I'm in Phoenix). I am eagerly waiting for my left rear window to collapse back in the door so I can make it an even pair for each window (sarcasm...she smiles). Buick said they won't offer remediation, however, the replacement regulator has a one-year warranty (wow!!!) I wonder how come it always collapses 13 months later? It costs $600.00 a pop to get this fixed-my advice-let's do our own replacements (we've got the instructions now) -and let Buick know we ain't buyin' no more GM cars. Duh! will they make a connection? I don't think so!

I just knew I couldn't be the only one with the window regulator problem.

My 2001 Buick Le Sabre has 46,771 miles on it. I had to have the right rear window regulator replaced last year. It was done under an extended 5 year warranty.

Yesterday, I had to have the left rear window replaced, at my own expense of $505.00.

I called Buick and was told nothing could be done about it

I believe that GM should have issued a recall a long time ago. I really love my car, but would not consider another GM car because of this experience.

I urge everyone to call the DOT Vehicle Safety Hot-line to report the problem.

I had the same problem with a 2001 Le Sabre 3 times. When the first window wouldn't move from the down position, the car was still under warranty so I got it fixed for free. The second time cost me about $400 at the Buick dealer. Fortunately I read this site and others before spending another $400 or more on another repair. My third problem was a back window that I would rather lose the use of, than pay for repairs and then possibly have it happen again. And I didn't think that I would be successful fixing it myself. Reconnecting the cable to the motor unit was what I was not confident about.

I also thought of the suction cup solution, but for me it didn't work well. I was inspired by a comment that someone tried a broomstick inside the door to hold up the window.

I used a wood board with more width and turned sideways for maximum use of the width, not a broomstick, and so far it is working. If you try a board on a back window there is about halfway along the bottom of the inside of the door a ridge. I cut the board so that it fit on a diagonal from the ridge to the front of the back window. The window appears to be heavy enough to keep the jammed in wood in place. But while I had the door panel off, I saw another perhaps easier solution, but I did not actually try it. The bottom of the window has a metal attachment with holes in it, and there are metal portions on the inside of the door with holes in them once you remove the non operating regulator unit. (Perhaps even before you remove the regulator. I don't recall.) If I had it to do over again I might try running a strong wire through the holes and tightening it enough to hold the window up.

When I was all done I found that my inside courtesy lights would not go off. Possibly the door had been open so long that something got overheated or broke. Being concerned about killing my battery, I disconnected the front inside plug to the unit and removed the fuse shaped bulbs (I presume they are bulbs) in the back lights. When I tried reconnecting the plug and bulbs a few days later, I had the opposite problem. They would not go on. So now my window stays up, but I lost my inside lights. If anyone had a similar problem and solved it, I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I have a 99 Buick Century that have all windows not moving up or down. Think it's the? master window lock switch? or whatever it's called. When this switch is moved seems like not really moving correctly. Not sure what to do as can't afford to get it repaired. Would do myself if knew what part to buy.

I also have a Buick Lesabre 2000 and have had 3 windows go down and stay down. Has this been recalled yet??? This is ridiculous. I really can't afford to fix another window.

What will the resale value be if no one can roll up (or down) the windows? Or worse yet, left totally open? I do not have a Lesabre any more, but the same thing happened on my Chevrolet.

2000 Buick LaSabre Limited... Lowered passenger side window only to have not close. Had to remove door panel to get window up by hand. I will check internet for repair procedure that can be done at home. Not going to Buick.
