2000 Buick LaSabre Limited... Lowered passenger side window only to have not close. Had to remove door panel to get window up by hand. I will check internet for repair procedure that can be done at home. Not going to Buick.

We also have a 200 Buick Le Sabre. The drivers side window failed when the car was only 6 months old and under warranty. Today the rear window on the drivers side made a loud bang as we were driving on the highway -- yes, the window fell down and we experienced a cold trip -- luckily it was not raining! I am so glad that I found this web site and I will be calling NHTSA to add my name to the list of extremely upset Buick owners!!

Our 2000 Buick Le Sabre's driver's window went out on us within a few months of purchase and was repaired under warranty. As driving on the highway yesterday, we heard a loud bang and thought something had hit the side of the car so we pulled off the road to check it out. Then we saw the left rear window was down two inches and it would not go back up. This is a window that is never used so the faulty part didn't wear out. It was just no good from the beginning. After reading the other comments here, it seems Buick, its dealers and their mechanics are aware of the problem with these windows and, in order to maintain any kind of customer loyalty, should repair these windows without cost.

Last year, we bought a 2003 Buick LeSabre from my elderly father. The driver's power window regulator failed with under 18,000 miles on the car. I replaced the regulator myself, but it looks like this will be an ongoing problem for me. I do not have these kinds of issues with the Hondas and the Nissan I own.

I own a 2002 Buick Le Sabre which I purchased new. I purchased an extended service warranty through GM when I purchased the car. Before the car was two years old, the windows started failing. Three of the four windows have been replaced, and now the front right window has failed again. They say my extended service warranty expired in August of last year. Now the dealer is trying to charge me $600.00 to do the repairs. I have met other owners with the same problem. The windows give no warning. You roll them down, and KAPUT. Maybe we should all write letters to General Motors and to the media to have the problem publicized to embarrass GM into fixing the problem free of charge.

I own a 2000 Buick Le Sabre and the driver's side window went out about two years ago. We just lived with that problem, which is awful. Then the passenger side window failed. Then the passenger side back window fell down and I had to tape it up. I replaced the regulator and motor on that one. Now the driver's side back window is broken and I have it taped up in place. I have read all these reports and think that someway we need to form some kind of group and see if something can be done. I do not how to get it started, but someone in customer service at GM should be contacted as a group. We can do nothing individually. Does anyone have any ideas?

I bought two weeks ago a Buick LeSabre 2000 with 85,000 miles from a famous used-car dealership chain in Virginia. Just after 8 days of using the car, the driver side-front window went down and resisted to go up again. The car is still under the dealership 30-day warranty; they have reviewed the problem and have promised to fix the problem. Also, I have contacted Buick directly to find out if there were any recalls on the power windows system from the LeSabre 2000, and the answer was no.

The car is powerful and comfortable; however, I’ll definitively buy either a Honda or a Toyota next time.

I too have had problems with the window regulators on my 2000 Buick LeSabre. The passenger side window regulator failed, and while waiting for the part to arrive (at a list price of 391.00), the driver's side window dropped as well. I took the vehicle to a local bodyshop and was told that window regulator failure was very common on GM cars. I have contacted NHTSA, Buick, and have filed a complaint with our state's Attorney General. Buick wrote and left a message indicating that customer satisfaction was very important to them, gave me a service number, and asked me to call to schedule a repair. I have called twice and been placed on voicemail with a message that they would return my call with 24 hours. As of this date I have not heard from them. No more GM vehicles for this family, I'll stick with Honda from now on.

Wow, I had no idea this power window problem was so prevalent and long standing! Bought my 2000 Le Sabre new in September '99 and guess I am lucky we just had the 2nd regulator go bad. Of course it was on a 900 mile trip, in winter and raining, no less. Heard the bang and right rear window slowly went all the way down. Covered with a blanket for the last 2 hours to destination. No one had parts locally so a window repair shop wired it up to get me back home. My dealer wants $600 to replace faulty unit, but from what I have read, not sure it is practical or cost effective. Thanks to all for sharing their similar problems. I and my family have been GM folks, but this is simply not right and needs to be recalled by Buick to restore credibility. I will call and file complaint tomorrow.

You can use suction cups on the inside of the window close to bottom of the window clipping onto the side of the door. It works for quick fix until the off brand replacement part arrives.

I have found a replacement window regulator with motor. It comes with a lifetime warranty on the part and costs much less than the other Dealer or aftermarket parts I located.

Go to DirectAuto.com to find the part at an unbelievable low price with a lifetime warranty.

I also found a reliable part time mechanic who will install the regulator and motor for 60 bucks.

Just had the same window problem happen with our 2000 Buick LeSabre. I can't believe GM refused to recall or repair their design goof & at their own expense (not ours). Last Buick for us. Never bought a foreign car yet but this will change all that.

2002 Le Sabre, 66k. Same window problem as everyone else here, left rear for me. I expect I'll have further window problems to look forward to. Dealer quoted around $500 to repair, no recall, no bulletin. Service manager said that my car is getting old, and that I don't frequent them for service, so assistance would be difficult. Poor product quality, poor customer service. I'll go with the 2x4 fix until it's a front window. I'll stick with Toyota from now on.

I'm about to dig into both rear windows on my 2001 Le Sabre. I was surprised that they both failed within a month of each other, but now that I found this site, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I'm going to pull the doors apart tomorrow to see what I need to do, but from what I see, I guess I should expect to find regulator problems.

However, I refuse to pay GM to have their technicians repair a problem that GM should have taken care of as a recognized defect.

And we wonder why GM is losing market share...
