I also own a Toyota Crown 1985 Royal Saloon which I bought in 2003 second owner (230,000km). It is a very strong and solid car. Quite luxurious. But I've had some mechanical problems arise since I bought it, like changing the head, and changing the heater core and I tell you it's not cheap$$. I drove the car about 40,000 kms since I bought it and then at around 270,000 kms the motor seized. I'm quite disappointed that it had to end like that after driving such a nice smooth car for nearly 3 years.

I would love to know if anyone has a spare engine for this model. He or she can comment and let me know.

Thanks in advance.

By the way I live in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

I own a crown 91 model.. Royal Saloon... and having this problem of engine over heating for last 2/3 years... apparently the automatic heat control system (am not a car savvy) is not working.. my mechanic somehow managed to make the radiator fan running all the time... and now the fan speed goes up and down with engine rev... which is horrible... appreciate any suggestion...

I am a Nigerian and I live in Nigeria. I recently bought a Toyota crown super-saloon 2.8 1984 model. I bought it second hand from an elderly man who abandoned the car for a very long time. When I bought it, the car had so many petty problems. I changed the alternator, the shock absorbers and the brake pads. Now the car is very good. Before I bought the car, I was using Audi 100 1983 model. The joy and pleasure I now derive from driving the Toyota crown, made me to forget the Audi which is still in my compound. Toyota crown is good and if I have my way and money, I will buy the newer model of the crown series. It is a good car any-day.

Hey all,

I too own a Toyota Crown Royal Saloon 1984.

It's got 300,000 clicks on it and still goes hard.

Fridge, air conditioning, cruise control is broken, but other than that is running fairly well, bit of a petrol leak and guzzles engine oil, but other than that it is such a smooth ride!

You can hardly feel speed bumps!

Bought it cheap form a fella who wanted a quick sale.

If anyone is keen to make me an offer let me know.
