I bought a VIOS in December 2007 from a Car Dealer in Rawathawatte, Moratuwa. They directly import used VIOS cars from Singapore. After I started using the car found that there are a few problems and was brought to the knowledge of the dealer. However, they did not attend to those problems properly and finally I had to spend my own money to rectify those problems. So if you are planning to buy a Vios car from a dealer in Moratuwa please don't do so.

I would like to say, Toyota Vios is great for value compared to the same level. I owned a toyota vios for 4 years. All I can say is, it is superb. It gives good acceleration and once it touches 4000rpm, you can feel the surge forward. If you are looking for those accessories like indicator on the side mirror, bigger rims which will rob your power, you are actually adding the manufacturing cost which will end up Toyota Vios selling at higher price.

Like I have said, if you are comparing BMW, or Camry to this little toyota, you are not qualified to give a comment. I own a celica now and I still feel Vios is a fun car to own. I never compare the performance of the vios with my celica. So, guys, please think twice before you make any judgement.

Another issue, engineers design and we are not. If you guys modify it and have complains over higher FC or slower acceleration, it is your own fault. Engineers does every calculation and test which give the best balance between power and fuel consumption. If you feel that you are better than the design engineers, then go ahead and mod your car, and do not forget to share with us your pain and regrets later.

Hi again

Currently my fuel consumption is still in the 500- 600's region with every 30-36 litres of fuel in singapore. About modifications, I changed to a cold air intake which really does wonders to the responsiveness. I know many people are skeptical but in all honesty for me it made a big difference. Changed the wheels to a set of light weight 15" which helped the car feel more "springy" off the line, felt that 16" will unduly make the ride harsh and are heavier and more expensive to boot. Lowered the car using lowering springs (the stock vios likes to roll) not good if you want to save petrol by maintaining your speed through corners. Installed a front strut bar as the vios has a rather soft body. Didn't bother with body kits as that is for show and not go, makes the car less aerodynamically efficient and adds weight. All was great except... The stock Vios does not allow you to adjust the chamber of the front wheels, for those who lowered your car you will experience heavy wear on the other side of the tires and a very crashy ride.

Hence I installed a chamber kit which is essentially a funny looking bolt to change the wheel chamber (top of wheel tilting inwards) to get the correct -ve setting. If you lower with out the kit the chamber will be +ve which is detrimental and eats your tires (I had to change 3 sets in 2 years... till I found out what was wrong) and I have to say the chamber kit was the singular most worth it installation to date as it does wonders to the handling and ride. cheers.

Hey.

I'm from Sri Lanka.

My dad bought a Toyota Vios 1.5E (Manual) last October. It was imported from Singapore reconditioned, having done 68000 KM's. Now it's done 82000..

When we first got it, it was doing only about 9 km/l. Then I found out that the petrol stations weren't closing the fuel filler cap properly. So I started to make sure they lock it properly (e.g clicking noise), and then it started to do about 12km/l (Colombo running).

My father and I were very happy, but then we changed the fuel filter.. (which I think was a bad idea) cause now it does just about 10 km/l = (and its power has dropped quite significantly). When we first got it, it had a quite a good acceleration.. now it's just poor and very frustrating, specially when it comes to overtaking.. we drive it as economically as possible (shifting under 2000 rpm) but it still does about 10 km/l.. we also pump 95 octane petrol..

Can anyone tell me what to do?? I need it do way better on fuel and power.. please don't tell me about how other cars are better.. we bought this and this is good.. I just want some help on what I said.. thanks..

Currently my Vios 2006 is giving me a problem where the car needs to crank twice (at least) to start the ignition. I have change the fuel pump & filter, service the throttle body, injector and change new original Toyota spark plug. The problem is still the same. My mechanic suggested to me to change the alarm immobilizer. Can't some one help me solve the problems? Thanks
