I have a 2006 GX470.
I have the same problem with clunking after a full stop. Called the dealer right away - first dealer they didn't have the parts for it, and called another dealer, bammmm they have it. Changed the drive shaft and never had a same problem anymore. Lexus is the best.
I feel for all the clunking problems but my situation is very different. I have a 2003 GX470 and every few weeks, very sporadically I can be driving along at 40-45 MPH and suddenly, without warning, the wheels will lock up, the traction control light on the dash will light up and a ringing tone comes from the dashboard. This will last for maybe 1/2 second but is the most frightening event you can imagine as it feels like you have just been hit by a truck. If your hands are not on the wheel it could cause a major accident.
The dealer can't duplicate the problem and there are no codes. They can't figure out what it is. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
I have a 2004 GX470 that I bought new. The odometer is now at 66000 miles and I haven't had any major problems till now.
First problem is with the NAVI. It periodically fails and I get a message on the screen showing "Disk Error". The dealer wants $250 to diagnose the problem. They say the disk drive probably needs to be replaced, which will cost about $5000 to replace.
Second problem is height control. The height light goes to "off" periodically I have to restart the car to reset it. Dealer doesn't know what it is.
Third, the tire pressure light is on constantly. Took it to the dealer and they said there was a nail in the tire. They took out the nail and said the light would automatically reset after 50 miles. The light is still on and it's been 300 miles.
This is my fourth Lexus and I've never had problems with the others. Any suggestions?
