I have a 91 metro with automatic trans. It starts great when cold, but, when the engine is hot it does not want to start. Any ideas would be appreciated.
1996 1.3 sedan Automatic tranny one day for NO reason stopped in traffic. Sounded like the tranny was in between gears. Pushed it off the road and put it in and out of gears then "BAM" went into drive and took off. Pulled the pan and NO shavings or even sludge. Oil smells good. Anyone have this problem before? Please help me. jckgoin@yahoo.com Thanks.
It would be quicker and cheaper to find a company specializing in JDM parts (parts imported from wrecked japanese cars direct from Japan) and replace the entire drivetrain in one shot.
A low mileage engine and auto can be had from around $ 450 to $ 500 US. Shop around your mileage may vary.

I had an auto trans problem that would slip out of drive and make me stop before it go again. didn't matter where the shifter was. It got worse. but the 'barrel' of the trans was broken and loose. used replacement for $800+

Now My prblem is an intermittant motor failure. Sometimes it'll strand me for hours, other times it'll just refuse to start. some times it'll start back up and run for 30-2min. When it's running it's strong and consistent. It could happen today or 3 days from now (daily driver) Have checked the fuel pump, replaced fuel filter, crank sensor, checked plugs, wires, cap, injector fuel pressure relief... no new codes from the scanner
I own two 1996 Geo Metros. I've just completed the complete overhaul of one of the engines and considering I had never done it before, it couldn't have been easier. I'm now in the process of completely rebuilding the drive-train and suspension. I find these little cars to be easy to work on and the parts, maybe because of their new found popularity, are easy to come by. The ironic thing is that it used to be a joke at my work with me driving the little metro. Now, with gas at $4 per gallon and me getting 50mpg, I'm the envy of my co-workers. I would recommend anyone with some mechanical know-how picking up one of these cars. I LOVE MY METROS!!
Hi, I have a 1993 Geo metro 1.3 litre. Great gas mileage. Recently it has begun having trouble starting. It starts great when it's cold, but when it gets shut off it will not start until it is cooled down. I have replaced the ignition coil and the relays to no avail. Any ideas?
