I have a friend with whom I grew up. I admired his mother's 1978 Impala coupe. After she died, he insisted on giving it to me. How could I refuse? It is dark red with a four barrel carburetor. No power windows, no power seats, no adjustable steering wheel, but plenty of power. I love it. It has sixty-two thousand miles and runs and looks new.

I traded my totalled '72 Chevelle 2 door for my '78 Impala Landau 2 door nearly 22 years ago.

It's gone through some changes in appearance and performance. The front is lowered 2 inches with skinny 16 inch 'turbo mags' in the front and big fat 10 inchers in the rear.

It cradles a once stout 350hp/350cid with the stock turbo 350 tranny. It used to really move out with 3:11 gears! I ended up flattening a lobe on the cam about 7 years ago, and after tightening that rocker down so it would run, drove it only about another 6 months.

Now it sits out back waiting for the next phase. My wife keeps telling me to sell, but there are just too many memories in the old girl to part with her... Kinda makes me sad to see her looking lonely out there by herself, but I'm planning a project with my 15 year old son. Hope he likes her as much as I do.

Hi I'm 21 and I just got offered a 78 4 door Impala with 4 barrel holly carb sittin on a three fifty. Sounds like it's gonna be a fun car to drive reading all these posts. I'll come back here and let everyone know how it is.

ATM, it's primered, no rust, 46,000 miles, original everything. It just needs some TLC and there will be 1 more antique on the roads.

BTW what kind of gas mileage does everyone with a 350 4 hole carb get? I use to have a chevy pickup 1500 with a 350 and I got around 16 mpg, so I'm hoping for more out of this car since it is considerably lighter.

To those of you who believe in the Impala being a tank, I'm sure the 1900 chevy pickup outweighs it, especially with 6 sprayin bed liners on the back.

Oh and did I mention I use to romp on little sports cars in that truck? LOL yep it was the funniest thing ever. Can't wait to get my hands on this.

Oh and by the way, my buying price is $0 good deal huh? I might just sell my 05' Ford F-150 if this bad girl gets more mpg. :)
