It is 130 to 135 bhp from new. All are different. What about top end? Who has hit what speed and was it, up or down hill? Be honest though!!!

Only facts. Most are about 133-135bhp.. only the 8v and diesel are less.. top speed 140mph flat road. The car felt solid; no shaking, just road noise.

My mate has one; he has fitted racing plugs plus full racing exhaust, new induction kit, ECU remap. 159bhp dynoed. Don't know what his 0-60 is, but must be faster than mine. ps he's a big fat dude; he would weigh it down.

Try differnt independent tuning companies, but to be honest its cheaper if you by a fiat coupe turbo, but if you must the you can get lots of bhp by cip cams air kit racing exhaust+ cat and sum other little bits and bobs you should be looking at around 210 220 if you do your homework I no this because I've dun it dino at 216bhp and no turbo alternatively go for throttle body with toring car setup bit pricey, but very power-full.

I have an HGT, 6 years now and I know the power you get each mod you make.

Power is not so easy my friend.

1) Cold air induction - noticeable difference and nice sound (gives also the impression you are goin faster ;) ) 4-7 bhp.

2) Supersprint full exhaust - same as above 2-4 bhp.

3) Head job (flow correction + skimming, compression 11.2) Now this is what made the car show its teeth. 12-15 bhp.

4) Minor weight reducing (about 40 kilos).

The car is 154 BHP dynoed and weighs 1003 kg, which gives a weight to power ratio of about 6,5.

Now I can overtake Saxos, Rallyes, VTis, MR2s, Golfs and stuff. I can also give a hard time to Type Rs and RX8s (challenge), but after third gear they go away.

It is a very lovely (not so small) small car, and it is fast; but it is not a rocket, and if you want to make it faster you've got to pay. Modding the HGT is expensive because it is a NA engine and the ECU is not reprogrammable.

If you want to gain 100 bhp with a 2500euro mod, go buy a turbo.

Punto GT, great car when mods are done. Go to youtube type in HGT 130hp vs GT 170hp You will find the clip interesting. Insurance group is too high... ps this clip is case sensitive. You must type in the letters and numbers as shown, but I'm sure you know this already. ENJOY....

My Punto HGT is a good car. It's fast and it is good on the bends. I have one mod; a viper kit, it sounds good and adds to the bhp. But I always get beat by my bro's VTS??? So I'm thinkin of getting the Punto GT Turbo to push him out of the way.

You must have a crap HGT mate. I've been raced lots of times by wee boy racers in VTSs and the rest, and I leave them for dead. YES I do drive a HGT too, only got piper cross viper on it. Cold feed also.

The person who made the comment that the HGT ECU can't be remapped; yes it can bro. My HGT was dynoed 140bhp standard. Changed my induction kit to a Pipercross Viper system cold feed of course. Guess what, an extra 10bhp. So it's not that hard to upgrade this wee car's performance. It does cost 230.00 pounds, but worth it.

Where do you get the ECU remapped and how much does it cost? I've also got a Punto HGT mk2, with Pipercross viper and cold air feed. It's bloody quick! Cheers.

Answers the both questions last two posts. first about the ecu remap. go to the punto power web site there are a few independents offering this service. better fitting a full free flow exhaust from suppersprint. also change your spark plugs to ngk platinum twenty pound a set, but worth it. THE guy who;s hearing the banging check your back box is not swaying about may be loose rubber connection. IF not that take it to the garage good luck hope its not anything expensive.

Just been in touch with angeltuning.com. they can do an upgrade on your ECU on your HGT. It's called a piggy back ECU. If I were you I would drop them a email...

You lot LOL. I have a Punto HGT 2002. It has 56k.

I have put an induction kit on and it is a good car, but there are a few things with Puntos; this is my 2nd and on both I've had problems with the windscreen wipers in someway.

The 1st Punto I had was a Sporting 52 with the same miles. The handling of the car is OK, but it understeers if you power down when you take it to the edge; it lets go at the back end, then it kind of goes to the middle of the car, which is fun in the wet.

The car is a bit low on power like someone else said. If it had 20 or 30 bhp added it would be a very good car, similar to the Civic Type R or Fiesta Turbo etc.

0 to 60 I found to be about 7.5, because of what cars I've beaten and lost. Top speed I've had 140mph and let off because of traffic, but in the real world I would say top speed is about 120 before you have to brake for someone, which reminds me the brakes need to be sharper I think.

I am now considering getting a Fiat Coupe 2.0 20v turbo; now that's a good car. 0 to 60 in 6.1, top speed 155mph, oh yeah!!!
