I'm trying to get the tachometer working on my 95 Cirrus. Is there a common problem, where does it pick up it's signal, where is the sensor located and what colour are the wires on that circuit?
I'm having the same transmission problems like everybody here (limp mode). I got the car 2 weeks ago. I'll take it to the mechanic next week, and I'll tell you guys what happened OK. This car looks like a bad buy.
I have bought a 95 Cirrus LXi a week ago. The transmission is leaking. Any ideas on which seal this would be for sure???. Sounds like I shouldn't have bothered with this car, but it's a really nice ride anyway. ohpleez0300@yahoo.com
I am the unfortunate owner of a 1995 Cirrus LXI. within a month I had no tack and the odometer would light up whenever it felt like. Within 2mths. I had to replace the front end 1400.00 later only to have it start to go again within a year. The A/C never did work. Now the transmission is going. Something is breaking up inside the transmission and is putting junk into the solenoid?? anyways bottom line they can
clean up the solenoid, but it would cost 3grand to fix transmission. Least to say I am getting another car. BUYERS BEWARE. THE CIRRUS IS A LEMON.
Just another unfortunate '95 Cirrus buyer. Have had the car since 97 and it's been idle more than I've drove it.
Have to agree with everyone on loving the car except for it's "psycho" mentality. The limp mode thing has cost me about a $1000 recently with Chrysler, and more in the past when I got the nerve to try my luck with other mechanics that thought they may be able to fix it.
Anyone who has found anything recently please let me know... it's very appreciated. Don't have the heart to "junk" a $13,000 car, but hate to put another dime into it! I'll never buy Chrysler again.
You would think with as much trouble as everyone has had over this, Chrysler would have figured out the problem! Thanks for any advice. marlajo1234@peoplepc.com
Well, I too have the dreaded "limp mode" with my 95 Cirrus. It's my first car and have had it for a couple of years now. Having about 116,000 miles on it, it's easy to say that driving any far distance is out of the question for me, because of it downshifting on itself, and limiting me to going about 35-40 mph. Needless to say, I hate my car.
It's getting inspected as I type, and I don't really want to see the results, because I believe there will be some HUGE transmission problem...
If all else fails, I'm considering either a full transmission flush and replacing the filter, or possibly giving the solenoids a check/replacement.
Just sucks when you don't feel safe getting into your own car... thanks Chrysler.
I just purchased a 1995 Cirrus with 80500 miles on it. I would put the transmission into neutral and it would not release into neutral like it should until you were going about 4 MPH (I would be coming to a stop). Disconnect the battery and let it sit for a few minutes then reconnect the battery (do it from the top at the NEG terminal not at the battery). The stupid computer needs to forget how to shift and relearn the pattern. Reprogram your radio and install an extra transmission cooler and use synthetic oil in the engine. The cab forward design of the car does not allow enough airflow over the engine, trans, and other crap so everything gets too hot. I should get money for this but I probably will not.
My Eagle Vision is pure crap. I've been having LIMP MODE since 1 year too. At the beginning the car took several seconds to engage (reverse and fwd gears), then you could heard a "clunk" and the transmission shifted.
Then, days later the car NEEDED to be restarted. It means you started the car on mornings and the reverse and 3-4 gears just didn't WORK (only limp mode and not reverse). Then you warmed it up for a couple minutes and it worked again.
NOW 1 YEAR LATER, you have to warm up the car for 20 minutes (not kidding) if you wanna get off the parking site backwards (unless you feel enough strong to push it in your own, LOL) then, you restart the car, and sometimes you have to restart it for 10 times until the TCM admits the car has been on long enough warm up and then it works great (reverse and all 4 gears)
I replaced my ATF+4 and the filter and NOTHING happened.
I added Lucas additive and NOTHING happened.
My home mechanic says it has to do with the o-rings and seals, which have become hardened and need to be replaced. Anyone has an answer which does not mean to spend 3,000 euros with it??
Thank you all and I'm sorry for your annoying problems too :(

I have 1995 Cirrus LXi, and I'm having problems when my car comes to a complete stop; when I go to take off it shakes until I hit 20 or 30 mph. Other than that it drives fine.
I am also having problems with my electrics; the beeping noise that it makes when I open the doors won't go off unless I take out the fuse. It doesn't do it when I turn the ignition.
If anyone has any idea of what this could be, I would appreciate it if you share what you know. Thank you.

I've had my 95 Cirrus over here in Taiwan since 1996. 6 years ago I had the transmission computer changed, followed by a new complete trans-axle change a couple of months later.
40,000 kms later; January 2008; I developed the limping problem. Had the transmission filter and fluid changed, and the problem disappeared. After two weeks I get the car painted (labor here is cheap); two weeks after that, it starts limping again. Will try the tranny fluid additive fix.
The hot, humid weather now is causing it to go into limp mode at any time... no common pattern. One way to handle it is; put into neutral, turn the key off, and while coasting, start up again. Throw it back into drive. This has worked even at 60 MPH.
I have a 95 Cirrus. The tranny problem is not temperature, vibration, fluid, or even electrical. Ours started doing this wonderful limp whenever it felt like it 3 years ago, after many trips to the dealer who could not fix it, we parked it and took the battery out. It sat for 2 years being punished, then last August a new battery was installed and for three months and about 10000 miles one day it started all over again, Again the dealer can't help. The green machine as the kids call it is now banished to the back driveway to sit again. Not to fear though it going to go to the farm at some time and be used as a slow moving truck for the rest of it's miserable life. Good luck to the rest of ya'll.
I have a 1995 Cirrus dropping into limp mode at all speeds. Like a previous poster when it drops into limp mode at any speed I shift it into neutral and shut off the motor and then restart it and it is out of limp mode. As soon as the ta-ch shows 0 RPM restart it.
However beware when the engine is off the steering column might be locked and you loose power steering boost and power brakes. Do not do this when traffic is heavy or in a corner.
Be Care-full!
My 1995 Cirrus 2.5 V6 was dropping into limp mode. I swapped the TCM relay with another (make sure you swap relays of the same number), unplugged and replugged 2 oblong shaped electrical plugs along side the fuse box, near drivers side headlight, tightened a hold down bolt for one of the electrical boxes in the area of the fuse box.
She now drives like a new one, $0 cost.
Note: This car had been severely wrecked 2 times by a previous owner, second time it was totaled.
An addition to the previous post, I had a recurrence of Limp mode after swapping a relay and then installed a NEW NA-PA T-C-M relay and it has been good for 2 days, knock on wood quick.
