My 2002 Nubira is stuck in park!! Air conditioner had to be replaced once. Both electric window cams had to be replaced-- not too bad. Interior is tearing. Engine light comes on and off at random, not sure why. The car stalls here and there. I could live with most of those things, but not sure what to do about it being stuck in Park???
Our Daewoo 2000 model was bought just before the Daewoo dealership went under. She went 6 years without a problem and then a few 'minor' hiccups have happened recently.
At 85.000km she started with coolant in one of the plugs. The head gasket was to blame, then of course the cam shaft snapped. (no reason, just got tired I supose) During the course of being fixed our mechanic found the petrol tank was being 'sucked inwards'. New tank and a blow out of the pipes was in order.
No matter what, I wouldn't part with the old girl. She starts first time every time and always gets me home. You can park her on a sixpence and travel good mileage on a tank of petrol. Every car has it's faults, but our Daewoo has earned herself a permanent park in our garage.
OK, where do I start?
I got this car off my girfriends dad to tide me over till I could afford my own car.
It's a Daewoo Nubria 2.0l CDS R reg, so I'm very thankful or am I?
I drove it for 2 weeks, and I was doing 5 miles to the gallon; same as a BMW X5 4.5 Liter sport. The problem was every single air pipe was blocked including the one next to the dipstick. I sorted that out myself with a few wire coat hangers and a couple of bottles of engine flush.
A full service was done after I couldn't get in the car; a rusty spring snapped in the central locking mechanism, a usual problem apparently, so after 4 months searching for 1 on the scrapper I found one and replaced it.
Then it was MOT time. I thought no problems and it went through first time, but 1 day later, and I mean a day after the MOT, car wouldn't start at all. I put it down to fuel filter being blocked; changed that to find out you can't bend the fuel pipe of a Daewoo. They put plastic tubed inside the rubber; out of all the cars, models and specs, this is a first, plastic tubing inside a fuel line. So after changing the fuel filter, the fuel line now spurts pretty smelly lines of petrol all over the engine, THANKS DAEWOO. Problem yet to be solved
I have a daewoo with many of the problems you guys brag of and more, yet I love her.. I see porche drivers and BMW drivers throw me envious glances and turn to their passangers and sigh 'one day I too shall have one of them.' Oh and what a babe magnet she is! You can all picture (close your eyes now and picture) the totti I get in her! Or could, if I wished... but don't, for it is Gertrude (My daewoos name) that I love and none other! It saddens me your relationships with your cars hasn't worked out as beautifuly as mine.. if you ever dump them, then email me @ cheekyrascaal@hotmail..for I am looking to start a Daewoo harem..
