Man, some of you guys are morons! The kid with the Legend headers, yeah, they don't exist unless you have them custom fabricated. Next, off the 3.2 accord motor, NO, it won't work. Legend's motor is places front to rear, accord is a transverse mount. Duh. The headers on a transverse mount car will have to drop and run under the side of the motor and meet the rear header collector. The legend motor would have headers the style of a camaro or such.
Next, a T4 turbo and NOS. Yeah right buddy/ NOS is "Nitrous Oxide Systems," made by Holley's performance division. So you can't run NOS. You can run nitrous oxide via a Holley NOS system. What's it jetted to? What EMS are you running? You probably have no idea what the hell I'm talking about, because you're full of S**t. Man, some of you guys are real morons. But thanks for the good laugh, I love when people think they know what the hell they're talking about and just list parts from "The Fast and the Furious." FLAME ON, losers...
Actually, he can be running "nos" in a acura legend. They make a 50-70hp dry kit for it. But, he was probably lying about the t-4 turbo and custom headers. I own a 91 legend with a type II conversion. I have found one company who can custom fabricate a turbo system for legends. Here is the url http://www.forcedairtech.com/legend.html This system is for the first gen legends. They claim a 70-80hp gain. They said making a similar system for the second gen legends is possible, but costly. And about all this Legend vs mustangs and Legend vs Firebird crap... I won't even get into it...LOL.
All I have to say about this topic is that I used to have a acura legend and I really like it a lot, but never did any mods. The car stock really hauls and picks up I know I got beat by one and I drive a stock ls integra. With some upgrades you can make legends fast even V8s, but it all depends on how much money you willing to spend on that motor. Any car can beat any car with just the right amount of money!!!
G'day to all from Melbourne Australia. This has been most enjoyable reading. All I have to add is that 3 years ago I bought a 1979 Firebird Trans Am with the last of the big 400 motors. As I understand this was probably the last true American muscle car built.
3 months ago I bought a 1992 Legend Coupe. These 2 cars are like chalk and cheese. The Firebird has more torque than anything else I have driven, but isn't the quickest car on the road. The feeling it gives me is pure grunt.
The Legend on the other hand is the best car I have ever driven. It feels so sure on the road that it doesn't matter what speed you are doing (60kph or 160kph).
Both these cars are white 2 door coupes, both automatic, and both relatively fast. The Legend has 180000km on the odometer and the Firebird has 74000 Miles on the odometer. And both are in original factory PERFECT condition (in every way!). I can honestly say that the Firebird feels more grunty and brutal, but the Legend is faster on the quarter mile. I clocked mine at Calder Park Raceway at 14.8 seconds for the Legend and at 15.2 seconds for the Firebird.
Obviously if I start injecting $$$ into either of these cars then these times will get lower, but why would I want to. I drive both of these cars the way the manufacturer intended me to and I love them for what they are... both brilliant works of art that will be remembered in history.
This has been entertaining reading indeed. Lucky our colleague from Australia has stepped in to clarify the significant difference between an American muscle car and an Acura legend. Take them both over 140 MPH and see which one you prefer driving.
I Have a 1991 Acura Legend L Sedan with the automatic transmission stock it ran 16.2 with a muffler and a custom cold air intake I have run a best of 15.683@90.318mph and the weird thing is I waxed a 98 Mustang GT five-speed and a 92 Mustang 5.0 then the other day I destroyed a Supercharged Ford Probe V-6 It's true Legends are fast and I want to make it faster please help!
FYI: 1993 type II legend (auto). Intake, cat back exhaust. Ported and polished heads. and a 100 shot NOS. This car ran a 14.8 in the 1/4 on street tires (nitto nt-555r)
Regarding a stock Legend V6 beating V8 cars... if the V8 car in question is a stock Ford Crown Victoria or Chevrolet Caprice, then yes, it probably does beat it.
But the 1st generation Infinity Q45, the early 1990s Mercedes 400E or 500E, the 1993 Seville STS (with the 295HP Northstar engine), BMW 540i or Audi V8 (4.2L) are all V8 cars that would blow the doors off a stock V6 Legend.
And comparing a modified Legend to stock V8 cars isn't exactly a fair comparison.
I have a '93 Cadillac Eldorado ETC. Stock it has 295 horse and 300 foot pounds of torque. The only modification (if you'd call it that) are the K&N air filters I put in. One of my good friends has a '93 legend coupe 6 speed. Don't get me wrong it's a real nice car--but not only is mine nicer, but it will smoke the s**t out of him any day of the week. His only chance of winning is a complete rebuild made for a huge shot of nitrous and a turbo. Still a nice car though and the gas mileage is about 1000 times better in the legend.
Just to let you guys know, obx does make headers for the second gen legends.
I have a1992 Acura Legend any advice on more power?
More power legnd: depends how much you wanna spend... exhaust $150
manifolds $400 installed
air intake 150-200
get anywhere from 10-35added horsepower.
Not enough, try a turbo, about 2500-3000 installed.
Good luck.
Legends and money. I purchased a 93 legend with a type II engine and a 6 speed. Looks a little flaky, but when that dude in his $50K 2006 turbo Crossfire tried me at a light... my $2K junker SMOKED him! Pulled him 1/2 a car in first, 1 car in second (after backing off the throttle to let the tires bite) and 3rd gear saw him flipping me a one finger salute. It also pulled a Viper for the first 1/8 mile. Not bad for a car that gets over 25 MPG, huh?
May as well throw my 2 cents in luxury plus performance for teh price love my coupe. As for them being slow there is one running 12's now. And as for a great chip upgrade that is not like the crap you see on Ebay do a search on Telion Chip.
Shameless :D.
