Hi...I just happened come across this site. I bought an '81 310 GX in 1986 (I think) and had it for ten years or so.
Best car I ever owned. I'm sorry - did I say 'car'? It was also my pickup, and a jeep - I usually had the passenger seat out and the back seat laid down. Always had fishing gear, a couple of guns, targets, ammo etc in the back. It was serving as a 'sport utility vehicle' back when Paul Hogan was plugging the "Outback" as "The world's first sport utility vehicle"
I liked the fact that it had a plain old non-computerized motor. Even a non-mechanic like me was able to replace the water pump, and the starter. Nowadays I'd need to be trained at Star Fleet!!!
Now I have a very bare bones '82 310 which I bought at a yard sale a few years ago for $400. This one has no hatch release inside, no rear wiper, no nothing. Miss my old one.
I have a 1981 310 GX gold over gold Datsun that I love! Too bad for me, just after I bought her, a nice lady in a very big hurry tried to run over me from behind. I am trying to find someone out there with a good rear bumper for the 310 Sedan, not coupe, as well as the passenger side tail light assembly and the passenger side rear quarter panel. I was lucky enough to find mine in an estate and paid $2k. It had 38k original miles on it in September of 2007 when I picked it up. Before I met the nice lady in the SUV, it was darn near perfect. Anyone with any 310 GX sedan parts, please let me know. I want to make her right again! I'm at tpfenton@everestkc.net. Thanks!
I just bought a 1980 Datsun 310 GX with 99,000 miles on it. Still waiting to register it, but gonna teach my soon to be wife how to drive a stick shift in it. Hope mine runs as well as all you people say.
