Yeah, I own a 85 Cutlass Supreme Broughham. It's my first car, I'm 16 and love working on it.

In the summer I turned it to muscle. Before it had a 231 in there, and I've pushed it to around 120-130, but the new engine I put in there is unbelievable, a 454. I had to remove my heat and all air conditioner stock parts to make it fit. It was a long project, but worth it.

These cars make great muscle cars, and can do 12 seconds flat with the 350 turbo automatic transmission.

If you want a fast dream car, I recommend this car. They take a beating and look very nice.

One thing I recommend though; if you have a saloon, make a roof scoop for the t tops. If you get going around 130 they can blow off the top of your car.

Peace and good luck with your Olds.

Hey guys I own a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham. I was unaware that the Cutlass that year came with anything less than a 5.0 litre V8. I don't know much about all thee models that were released. I do know for sure that my Oldsmobile 85 Brougham is a 305 Chevy 5L V8. It is so smooth and runs very well. Car is mint. Although the carburetor had a few simple problems. Anyway, I'm thinking of changing the stock transmission for this car. It really is crap. But I don't know what transmission I need? Any suggestions? Also, is it worth upgrading the 305 or should I just replace the 305 with a race ready 350?

I've got myself a nice 85 Cutlass supreme, with a 455 7.5 liter Buick block. The stock block produces 510 ft·lbf, and weights 68kg less then the Chevy 454. I've planed the heads down 125 thousands, and I can tell you that it's smoked every import and 454 out here. Even with it exceeding more than 560 ft·lbf, it drives comfortably and fairly smooth. You can't go wrong with such a muscle car classic.

Hey, I purchased an 83 cutlass with the nutless / gutless 3.8 and I frickin love it. It's actually got quite a bit of power for a v-6. Don't get me wrong, if I had the opportunity to drop a 350 or a big block or anything else in it, I would. It's just a hoopty but that doesn't stop anyone from checkin it out. I get looks all day, every day. I just got ahold of some 13" 100 spokes for her. It's NEVER let me down. I see people of all classes and income with Cutty's. People ask me about it wherever I go and they're becoming pretty rare. Suck it you haters, yer girls love my ride.

I agree. I also have an 85 Cutlass with a v-6 that has surprising power (it's rebuilt). I can't even go for a short ride to the park on the weekend without getting a thousand stares. My kids and wife love this car and the attention we get in it. I keep it classic though; vinyl top, all chrome trim, original wire wheel covers and whitewall tires.
