I found a 1992 300GT SL. It has a a 1996 engine with 50k miles and a new transmission. Its $4400 dollars. Any1 think I should buy it?
I wrecked my 3000GT. Does anyone have the front left and the front right fender? Or a front bumper? Or pop up lights? Or, alternatively, can I do a conversion to the flat lights?
Firstly, don't buy any car with a "new motor" in it. The car is worth more with matching numbers. Secondly, you can do a 95-99 conversion if you want, but, they get to be a pain with wiring and whatnot. Thirdly, search 3si.org or 3sx.com for parts, don't talk on this.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to find a used power antenna for a 1994 3000GT SL. I have tried purchasing a OME antenna, but it would have to be rewired. I have called local junk yards without any luck so far. Dealer can order, but cost is $400.00. Please let me know.
I'm sick to my stomach. I just bought a 92 3000GT SL "white" 5 speed for about 3300 bucks. 110,000 miles and the body is in real good shape. I just got back in contact with an old friend of mine who told me he had a 92 3000GT SL "white" 5 speed, but he bent the rods. He gave the car to a junk yard one week before I saw him. Can you believe that? Think of all the spare parts I could have had. I feel like throwing up.
I want to buy the only 3000gt in my city. It's a 1992 standard with 180,000 miles on it. It's red with original paint, and I'm going to pay 3700 bucks for it. I know it's a little expensive, but keep in mind that I'm writing from Mexico, and these cars were not sold in my country, and almost no one knows what kind of car it is, except for me and a few others, so right here it's like an exotic car. The only thing I'm concerned about it's that I've been reading horror tales about the tranny and some other parts, and it's going to be very difficult for me to find parts to fix it once it starts to give me problems, which I'm sure it's going to happen sooner or later. Anyway, I don't care about these tales, because I'm in love with the car and right now it's running great! My wife doesn't want me to buy it, but she's happy with her 2008 Honda Accord and and I want to be happy with my 3000 gt, even if it's 16 years old! Any advice about where to find parts for this car? You know, just in case...
I have a 93 3000GT SL. It's kind of hard finding parts for these cars, and when you do find them, it's expensive.
As for me, I love this car; the speed, the style and basically everything about it.
Before buying a 3000GT, ask yourself these questions.... Do you love this car?... are you will to spend alot of money if anything goes wrong?... are you willing to put up with small back seat space?.. if your answers are no, then you should run away from buying.
It's expensive to maintain, especially if you are not mechanically skilled. You can find some new and used parts on eBay.com, craigslist.org, junkyards and 3si.org.
It's definitely worth buying if you are looking for speed and luxury.
I'm curious as to if people still come back to read these comments after all these years but I've read this one when I bought my first car, a white 95 3000gt SL, I too have since bought a 2007 Toyota Camry which is faster (V6 270hp), more roomy and practical with 4 doors, cheaper on gas and runs on regular fuel.
I can't say enough about the 3000gt though, I still have her despite very very minor problems. What the original reviewer said about the 3000gt being the girl you always think and dream about, it can't be more true in my opinion.
Hey I am looking to buy a 1992 3000GT with a used engine with 75k and a newer tranny with 35k for 4200$. It has a lot of new parts put in like spark plugs, water pump and all the usuals. It has a little body damage on left side, not much, but just a little. But does anyone have advice for me on what to look at or any other useful information?
