I purchased a used 2005 Chrysler Pacifica in October of 2005 with 9200 miles on it. Since this time I have had nothing, but electrical problem with it. The car was bought initially by a rental company in late 2004 and there was a recall shortly after this, this recall was never corrected until I learned about it in late 2005 (headlights).
Since this recall was done it has been one electrical problem after another and the car has never been 100%. After this was fixed the headlights still kept going out, one at a time for short periods.
This was fixed and then when you shut off the car all power shut off so the key less remote didn't work and the radio reset every time. When this was fixed the fan motor stayed on even with the key out of the ignition, unless you turned off the switch. This cost me two new batteries.
I just had this fixed and now I am back to all power being shut off when the ignition is off.
I can hardly wait to see what is next.
I just want the car fixed so I can trade it in on something reliable. Can you say Lemon!
I purchased a Pacifica Sport Touring edition in Oct 2005. The wife had been generally pleased with the car and had taken in on several trips. We had some minor issues with the power rear tailgate failing to keep open, but it was corrected under warranty. Recently, the wife was running some errands around town an heard a clunking sound from the left, front wheel when she made a left turn. She drove home and asked me to drive it and see what I heard. I backed down the driveway and turned into the street when the left front CV joint broke. There had not even been 20 miles driven from the first indication of any trouble. The vehicle has 46k miles on the odometer. It was towed to the dealer where it will be repaired under warranty after my $100 deductable, but I am really disappointed in such a failure of the drive train with such little miles. I was told by the dealer that the part is on backorder. With as many Pacifica models sold, I am surprised that there is not an adequate amount of repair parts available.
We own a 2005 Pacifica with approximately 18,000 miles on it and have been experiencing the clicking/grinding noise from the front end since about 16,000 miles... the dealer has changed the PTU after the second time we had the car in for the noise and we were told its not a safety issue.
We are completely dissastified with the problem... never have we spent so much money ($40,000 with all the options) and had a car with so few miles sound like such a piece of junk! While there are many features we love about this car, we could not recommend this car because of Chrysler's response to this problem.
While travelling this summer we spoke to at least four other Pacifica owners we met along our travels who have/are experiencing the same noise, getting the same response from their dealers... It will be a cold day in...when we buy another product from Chrysler.
I have an AWD drive Pacifica, and also have the clicking noise, which I assumed is the CV joint.
It doesn't ride as smooth as I dreamed it to ride, but I think that's cause I live in the worst streets of New York city.
I am told there are gonna replaces the PTU. What is a PTU? And the mechanic tried to tell me my car was ready; I asked did you fix the clicking noise? He said huh, I explained and now they are replacing the PTU, what is that?? And what does it do?
Meanwhile they gave me a rental, not a loaner car, and I am under warranty. I told them I cannot pay the high cost of their rental plus repairs, and now he said we will work out a deal on the rental.
After reading all the reviews here I am beginning to second guess my future purchase of a Chrysler Pacifica. My husband and I have got a 2 year old son and another baby on the way and are needing to get out of our little Chevy HHR, I was hoping that the Pacifica was the way to go.. so sad : (
Anyway, when we went to test drive one at the dealership the dealer told us that they stopped making the Pacifica's. I went to the Chrysler website and you can still buy 2008 models, does anyone know any truth to this? If so, anyone know why they are discontinuing them? Any help would be GREAT! Thanks so much :)
The Pacifica (along with the Crossfire and the Dodge Magnum) is being discontinued this year, for the same reason that every car model has been discontinued, since the dawn of time: LACK OF SALES.
Bummer!
I'm looking at a '05 Pacifica 64,000 miles. leather, DVD, Onstar, etc. LOADED. Priced at $9995. A steal, unless I'm to expect oil, electrical and chassis issues. Had two owners: Fleet car (34,000mi) & private (30,000mi). Nothing shouts 'danger' from the VIN report.
What else can I do to uncover problems before I buy?
