I start to accelerate and the rpm's go up and so does my speed, then I let off the gas and then it shifts into the next gear. Does this sound like a transmission problem???
I purchased 2001 RX300 June 2006 with 83,000, and the car went dead on me 2/25/2008 while going up a hill and the middle of traffic as I was attempting to get over to the side of the road. I called the tow truck and it was going to take an hour and a half to come, so I called my sister who was on her way to work "who drives a ES300 where the check engine light comes on" to bump me all the way home. Lexus just replaced the motor at their expense in Sept. of 07 due to a recall in "oilgelsettlement". Sure hope that they recall the transmission and replace it. Wish me luck!
I now need my second transmission in my rx300. Lexus dealers could care less,
I have a 2002 Lexus RX300 that I bought October 2006. November 2006 my transmission went out. I had it rebuilt for a little over $3000. I continued to have problem with it have a hard shift in the first gears. They flashed the computer and it worked for a couple of months. My battery on the car kept dying and when I finally replaced the battery July 2007 and they flashed it one more time, I thought my problems were over. It is now May 2008 my transmission started to act up again. I took it to the transmission place thinking it needed to be flashed. They say their obligation has ended. I took it to Toyota and they say it's the transmission. Yesterday I went to take it home till I decided what to do, Toyota wants $4200 to replace with a rebuilt transmission, and I couldn't get my car to go in reverse out of the dealers parking space. I tried putting it into neutral to push it back and it wouldn't budge. The dealer is looking into a couple of other possibilities.
I can't afford another transmission especially after only 20,000 miles. I know that it only has a 1 year warranty but am I crazy to expect a rebuilt transmission to last more than 20,000 miles. I'm going back to the transmission shop tomorrow to let them know it's the transmission again. Wish me luck I'm going to ask to pay for the parts and see if they'll not charge me for labor. I too am disappoint that a high end car is not dependable.
I have a 2001 RX 300 Lexus. My transmission went out with 150,000 miles on it. They are going to charge me 4,500, to fix it. I don't recommend this kind of car. It is better to buy a GMC model; they run great, the parts are cheaper, and better costumer service. Lexus has done nothing to help me with my problem.
Transmission in my 99 RX300 seemed to be having a problem yesterday. Check engine light came on and the shifting seemed kind of erratic. I took it to the dealership and they said it would cost around $4500 to replace. They told me not to waste my time and to get a new car.
Our 2000 all-wheel-drive RX300 transmission just failed at 73 thousand miles. We had all scheduled maintenance performed at our Lexus dealership. Our cost to rebuild is @$4000 from an independent shop, but the warranty is for 5 yrs. rather than the one-year from the dealership. The dealership expressed no interest in helping us since we are out of warranty. A true travesty! We will not purchase from Lexus again, as we were planning to do in 2 years.
I'm scared now.
I am planning on buying a 2000 RX. I had a preliminary inspection done and I am being told that there is a "drag" on the four wheel drive. Whatever that means. The dealer so far is saying that it might be the knock sensor. I have already given a deposit, so I am a bit scared that I will have an official transmission problem.
I bought my 2000 Lexus RX300 brand new. It is the third car for my family, and I only have 52000 miles on it. The transmission started giving me problem 2 days ago. I took it to my mechnics and I was told that I needed to put in a rebuilt transmission for $3800. I will take it to the Lexus dealer next week to see if they would do anything for me. It is out of warranty because of its year, but the mileage is way under the 70,000 miles in the policy. I am quite upset now after reading all this info and learned about this as a design flaw. No transmission should go out at 52000 miles, even a Lexus. (I currently own 2 Lexus.) I am going to the Accura next year if Lexus does not step up to the plate...
