To be honest id have either or them both have there good and bad points. The viper can burn your leg on the sills and is a little less comfortable for daily use, but more fun on track. Corvette is more comfortably daily better on track, but doesn't have the same fun factor to it.

Don't know which I would rather have would probably be the viper, but the corvette would be a better car to live with day to day. Still a 572 corvette would be amazing 620hp with an N/A engine. That sounds like more fun to me than a supercharger bolted on to a viper. Shame they won't ever put the big block in the vette, but it would put the car into supercar territory straight away if they did.

Having driven both I prefer the Viper. You will not burn your legs if you go with a Corsa Cat Back. The Viper is a low production true race car from the moment you sit behind the wheel. Its interesting to read the comparisons, but its hardly likely you will see a Viper owner digressing backwards for a number of reasons. Primarily, there are literally Vettes everywhere... thousands in any major city and I prefer something more special. Driving either its certainly advisable to attend a professional driving school. Many of the Vette drivers I have seen (not all) would be advisable to attend one.

They have 7.0 vette's I think, and if that isn't big block enough... I don't know what is.

To the city thing have you not noticed these reviews are based on the UK section of the site where by both cars are rare as hell. I think only around 1000 vettes were sold in europe last year or something like that.

Making them over here both as rare as each other which is why I said I would have either. On these roads though the vette would be the easier car to get around in much narrower roads etc. And not everyone who buys a car straight away wants to go chuck a new exhuast etc on it to stop them from burning there legs lol. Admittedly I'm not one of those people, but exhaust for me would come after brakes and suspension. I prefer to get the handling sorted before anything when I mod a car.

My best friend just bought a C6 convertible and I actually have driven a 2000 viper (a different friend who bought it at auction). The viper is by all means capable and gets A LOT more attention than the vette, but if you're comparing apples to apples, there is no question. The Corvette is by far the most amazing deal on wheels. Performance aside, small details like solenoid door handles, heads up display, power seats, etc. for $20,000 less? Unless money is truly no object for the buyer, the Corvette is unbeatable and can serve easily as a daily driver (or taken to the track on the weekends). Just my opinion, I'm still saving to buy a car of this magnitude so my comparison might be somewhat irrelevant. Cheers to good ol' American engineering!

I am sorry, but there is no absolutely no comparison. I have driven a 98 Vette Convertible and my sons Viper RT/10. The Viper has significantly more instantaneous raw hp, much faster, a true racing frame and suspension and significantly better brakes. The Viper is very low production that in itself has greater appeal. There are Vettes everywhere. My sons has the short throw 6 spd, Corsa Cat backs, Flow tubes and Brembo brakes. In all fairness the Vette was an automatic with little thrill factor. I liked the convertible top and its storage method on the Vette which is nice for cruising. Hoewever, I like my sons removable 3 piece hardtop which is color coordinated on his Viper better. He sold his stock soft top for this. Simpling put the Viper is more powerful, handles and stops better. The C5 is a good motor, but its not a V10. I would only buy a coupe and a stick either way. The new Z06 is a nice car, but the Viper is still more desirable due to its design and low production. It sets it apart. If you drove both you would immediately see why the Viper costs more.

The Current Corvettes are a revelation over the old ones, they really do handle like a proper sports car/supercar. The basic C6 lapped the Nurburgring in under 8 minutes, I wouldn't exactly call that " boat like" handling. The Z06 did it in like 7mins 42 seconds which up there with likes of Enzos other big money exotics. In the states you can pick up a C6 for 45k, it will do 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds and comfortably reel off a 12.5 sec 1/4 mile (if not better). A toyota Supra doing these kind of times stock? I don't think so (they run atleast a second slower in both tests), a modified one yes... but they are 10 years old now. As I said earlier, critics have really raved about the handling efforts of the new C6, in Top Gear Magazine, the Stig Lapped the base C6 in 1 min 26 seconds (the Z06 did it in 1 min 22 seconds) which is quicker then the likes of the dodge Viper Srt-10 and 911 turbo just to name a few. Here is the list of cars slower then the base C6 (which ran 1 min 26.8 seconds) :

I've seen a 1000 hp Supra... but they don't handle well. Don't get hung up on ugly... I hate hood and deck stripes for example consider them ugly but that's me.
