On March 24,2007 I purchased a 2004 quest used with 37460 miles, what a mistake! since day one has been nothing, but problems, I stopped counting how many times this car has been back at the dealer, problems, 1= shift handle do not disengages correctly from park, gets stuck, hard to shift, dealer stated to me "nothing is wrong with the car, this car is made like this, you need to learn how to drive this vehicle!!complaint to Nissan!" 2=emission noise under the car, dealer stated again,"we found nothing" 3= warped rotors, dealer changed them after loud complaint from me.4= front suspension needs to be repair. 5=rear brakes need to be replaced. 6= damn car, noises coming from every where. On friday 11,2007 I'm taking this car to a different Nissan dealer, the authorized Nissan dealer in Hillside ave, Queens, where I purchased this junk are a bunch of crooks, quick to take your money to sell, and take a seat It will be a while before anyone speaks to you, they just ignore you. This dealer just failed to provide the service we are entitle to and they just added more problems due to their inefficiency and lack of resposibility, did complaint to Nissan USA and also to the state attorney general, DO NOT BUY THE NISSAN QUEST. you will be sorry!!

I bought a 2004 Nissan Quest SE and I agree with the other folks who wrote comments about the tire air sensors. On the first of every month, my monthly duty is to go to the gas station and pump air into the tires, because just like clock work, the tire sensor's leak air monthly resulting in that annoying alarm to ring. It's embarrasing when I'm driving with someone and that crap goes off like that. It was replaced about 5 times and the same problem persists. The service adviser's at the certified Nissan dealer appear to be lost in space as well.

I agree with everyone. I also have major problems with my 2004 Quest SL. The steering fluid was leaking when it had 9K miles. The dealer replaced the steering pump and since then, my steering is horrible. It also makes loud noises as if the axle is breaking. we had the rear bench latches replaced twice because the rattle was very loud. Stereo has been replaced because it would mute itself sometimes. Sometimes It looses power when I push on the gas, it does not respond at all. Almost like the engine is turned off. Rear brakes had to be replaced at 25K miles. The power sliding door does not work sometimes when you pull on the handle. It always works when you use the button. We have 28K miles on it now and we are thinking of trading for an Odysey, but they are so ugly. I may have to take an ugly van if it means it's reliable.

I own a 2005 Quest that I picked up in Oct '05, after reading all the comments already posted. I have similar problems.

Since new, the front passenger doesn't close properly (and still doesn't), the door misaligns and is hard to open and close from the inside. My dealer says its normal.

Interior climate control lights don't come on unless the dimmer switch is on full brightness.

Van pulls to the left; the dealer says it's normal. Normal?

Headlights are aimed too high; the dealer refuses to adjust them and says its at factory spec. Then how come most oncoming drivers flash me all the time?

Rear hatch door is hard to close when it's been left open for more than 5 minutes.

DVD player doesn't play when its too HOT.

In June '06 (10,000kms/15,000miles) front rotors had to be replaced, since the brakes were causing the steering wheel to shake when braking.

In Oct '06 (15,000kms/20,000miles) all four rotors had to be replaced, along with the front pads.

In Aug '07 (31,000kms/38,000miles) the rear pads are failing and I had to PAY this time. $345.

Believe it or not, my wife drives the van and this thing only has 31,000kms or approx 45,000 miles on it. According to Nissan Canada, they say my wife drives the van too hard and brakes too much... LOL.

This is the first review I have ever written for any product. I felt compelled to write this because of all the negative comments I am reading. In contrast, I have had very good experience with my '04 Quest SL, which now has 40K miles on it. In fact, my wife and I both love this van!

The only problem I have ever had is with my factory installed running boards - the light strip stopped working on one side. They fixed it under warranty. I am also not a fan of the factory tires, like most of you. This is not the only vehicle with lousy OEM tires though, and there are now alternatives. Michelin Primacy MXV4 and Yokohama AVID TRZ both have a 225/65/16 size now. I am going with the latter based on good reviews at Tire Rack and Discount Tire web sites.

I don't know why I have been spared the trouble everyone else is reporting. Perhaps it is because my car was built in July '04, after they discovered and worked out some of the issues. I'm sure another factor is that most people are motivated to review a product when they are disappointed with it, whereas those of us that don't have any problems don't really think about it. I happened to find this site when I was researching tires. Anyway, good luck to everyone.

My husband bought me a 2006 Nissan Quest SE. I am so disappointed in this vehicle! My air conditioner does not work properly. It does not cool down the car when it is hot! My car is currently in the shop to be looked at.

Also this van comes with Pac tires that are suppose to run flat. Well guess what, they do not. I ran over a small piece of tire that caused my tire to blow. This little car in front of me had ran over the same piece of tire and they did not get a flat. I had to be towed to the dealer and they told me it was going to cost over $1000 to repair because with these tires they had to replace the rim too. We were getting ready to replace the tire and rim when a friend suggested to call the maker of the tire. They told us that the tire was under warranty for two years and the dealership never told us about it. We almost forked over $1000 for nothing. I also was just told today that my tires are worn. I only have 17,000 miles on it and does this mean I have to pay $4000 to get the tires replaced because they only come as a kit. They told me this is not covered under warranty. What a joke these tire are!

Now my car is in the shop again because the steering column is shaking. After reading all these reviews I'm afraid to get that phone call from the dealer.

Also, the gas mileage in town on these vans stink. It is much less than what they said it was on the sticker! I had a Honda odyssey before and I truly miss it.

I would never recommend this car to anyone!

We bought our 04 Quest in August of 2004 and thankfully didn't get the first batch of Quests produced, however, ours has plenty of problems. The following has been done:

-new tires @ 25,000 miles

-2 sets of front pads @ 30,000 miles - second one for free from the dealer

-various brackets replacements that hold the exhaust system

-2nd row seats adjustments - required the car to be @ the dealer for days

-Remotes cracked around 15,00 miles - replaced for free

-most recently @ 30,000 car needed a new battery with various parts that go along with it $ 250!? not covered under the 60K warranty

-inner tie rod ends.

I am sure I missed something. It seems as thought I am at the dealer all the time. Another irritating fact is that the dealer has no respect for my time as they never have the proper parts even if I make an apptmt for a specific repair. I end up bringing it at least twice for each repair and I the dealer is 45 minutes from my house.

Will not buy Quest again.

I purchased a 2004 Nissa Quest SE in Sept. 2003. I have have been taking it to the dealership almost every month since it was new from transmission, to radio, to doors, to power windows not working, to the power sliding door not working to power front seat now working. The gave me an extended warranty to 100,000kms. I would take the van back for the same problem 2 or 3 times. The transmission didn't get fixed properly unit the 3 year. The van is out of warranty now, but still has some problems. I had a 2002 maxim se and had no problems with it. Problem is that when car companies put a new model out they haven't testing fully. The let the consumer do that to save them money. I had a brand new Chevy Malibu when it first came out and had so many problems with that car as well.

Our lease on our 2004 Quest is up in May and I am counting the days. This vehicle has had 50+ service days, over and above regular maintenance. The warranty was extended to 100,000 kilometres, but they still don't provide a loaner vehicle, so this much service has been incredibly inconvenient. This vehicle is on its third battery, has a completely new exhaust system, has a new CD/DVD system, the automatic sliding door has been repaired, the rod to hold the hood up has to be replaced, and it's had to be towed to the dealership once and I still don't know exactly what happened.

Don't ask about buying tires for the thing! You have to pay top dollar for tires as they are such a weird size!

I'm going back to Volkswagen in the Spring. I'm going to buy a Passat Wagon and drive it for 15 years. Either that or a Volvo.

Brakes are the worst, I also have had to replace set of tires, and one air pressure sensor. Several times bring van in to find/stop the squeaking on the doors. Finally, showed the service dept the recall information found on-line. They then said they couldn't get the part even though available on other Quest mini-vans on the lot. Apparently, change was made and the problem I experienced was because ours was one of the first set of Quest's made. It seemed strange that a service dept would value a prospective buyer over a recent buyer.

I also own a Nissan Quest 2004 model. I have experienced many of the same problems and have had the van in the shop for services. I now have 103,000 miles on it and the dealership shop says the "NOISE" that is coming from the front of the van are the mounting brackets for the engine. They will charge me $900 for the repair plus services. I feel robbed; the van is just not old enough to need such major repair. There response "100,000 what do you expect." I expect a van I can depend upon for 250,000 plus miles.

In January of 2008, I purchased a 2004 Nissan Quest since my 2004 Dodge Caravan was a right off during a head on collision. I hope I will not regret purchasing a "foreign' vehicle. While I had no problems with the Caravan, so far I am having problems with the radio and the cd on the Quest. It's in the repair shop now. I just found out there was a bulletin about problems with the 2004 Quests regarding the arial. Anyone else? Hopefully that will be it, although I'm a little concerned that the brakes don't feel right.

My husband and I special ordered a 2004 Nissan Quest SE in August '04, and waited patiently for it to arrive. We drove it off the lot late July '04, and the problems began before we even hit the first red light.

- "Whirring" in the engine

- Sliders that didn't want to close automatically

- Rear hatch does not close consistently using the auto switch

- New brakes every year

- Programmable mirrors that do what they want when you use the program button

- Moonroof that does not close and opens by itself randomly.

All the above mentioned items were brought to the dealers attention - all 3 of them - and NONE of them have been fixed (except the brakes because we paid for them.) In fact, most cases the technicians found everything in working order.

Now that the warranty is out and the items are still not fixed, we are begging Nissan for what they call "good will" to fix problems that should have been fixed while under warranty... but not before we pay out of pocket for a "diagnostic test."

By the way, this test is covered by warranty so make sure you ask your tech to have them done! We were not told about this test until after it was too late.

Please, do not buy a Quest. Nissan does not stand behind their product. I am sick to think that I special ordered this vehicle. It truly was not money well spent.

The customer service with Nissan is also appalling! Nissan does not care about its consumers. The 2004 Quest should have recalled in its entirety - it truly is that bad. DO NOT BUY A QUEST. As my 2 year old daughter says, "Van is a piece of junk."
