How's it goin my fellow milly family? Good I hope. As for 4 me very happy. I'm a 19 year old kid in south florida. I recently got my hands on a 2001 milly s. As 4 me the car is decent. Myself has experienced the rough shifting, bad 02 sensors.

When I noticed that my milly was shifting very weird I automactically went 2 a local aamco transmision shop. When they told me that it wasn't my transmission man was I relieved. They told me that it could b bad spark plugs. So I went 2 to the dealer and had them changed. Since that my milly has been perfoming like new. Maybe some of you guys who has had that problem should try goin 2 a transmission shop and c what's the problem and c if the can help you out with an opinion.

As for my 02 sensors, can anyone tell me is the 2 front upper sensors hard 2 get 2? Cuz the dealer wants 2 charge $225 for each sensor. Think that includes labor. Sure hope so. Also how long should it take 2 change them?

Besides the 2 problems posted my milly is a dream. I've been wanting this car since 2001 and now I have it. I also c a lot of people complain about the high maint. of the car? What do you expect? It's an entry luxury car. But I wouldn't care. Still love my baby. As for the 02 sensors can anybody please let me know. Email me at babyboy754@tmail.com. Thanks.

I have a 2000 Millenia S that ran fine until about 60k, and then started having the typical check engine problems. Over next 2 years replaced 3 coil packs at dealer for 300-500 each, depending on location (bank), vacuum T's broken, but took forever for them to figure out, corroded 17"chrome wheels (on inside where tire bead meet rims) an admitted defect by dealer, but out of warranty.

Ruined two tires because the wheels would not hold pressure due to corrosion.

Now at 92k both axle boots torn which resulted in worn axles and replacement.

Check engine light back on - dealer says needs 2 O2 sensors and both cat converters. Took it to a reputable foreign car repair shop -- no reading on O2 sensors, maybe needs one cat.

In summary, am fixing axles (not at dealer) to make it safe to drive and them getting rid of it. Anyone reading these posts by all the folks having similar costly repairs with this car, should have their head examined if they find themselves considering buying a used Millenia!

I am thinking of buying a millenia 2001 model, sedan. Mileage is 240,000 kms or about 110,000 miles. Pictures of the car look good and interior is wood grain, automatic... any advice or thoughts? Should I or shouldn't I? RJ.

I own a 2001 Mazda Millenia S 2.3L and while driving the car, I am getting a TCS and TCS Off light indications on the dash with a jerking motion as soon as these two additional lights come on. I have to stop the car, turn it off and turn it back on to clear the two TCS light indicators. Any comments or suggestions regarding my situation will be very helpful since I know very little about this car.

Thank you.

I purchased a 2002 Mazda Millenia in October of 2007. Immediately, the check engine went on which is a common problem in the car. On really cold days, the TCS OFF light will come on and stay on until the car warms up. It's fairly decent on gas for my 15 minute commute to work each morning. The only major issue I've encountered has been the Harmonic Balancer coming apart and needing to be repaired. Other than that, I love the car but I don't expect to keep it for too much longer.

I have a 2001 Mazda Millennium, and around 49000 miles the knock sensor went out.

At ~80000 miles 1 or 2 O2 sensors when out.

At 92000 miles, light came on and it was both cat's. at 105000. I still have to replace the cats, but now the knock sensor is out as well.

I have gotten the local dealer down to $2200 to match a local repair shop. Yeag, to MATCH their price. jeez, I will have spent over $4000 when this is all said and done.

Does anyone know if there a service manual available for this car? I can't seem to find one.

I believe there are Chilton manuals for Millenias. You can also find lots of info on the cars at Mazdaworld.org where there is a pretty good sized group of Milly lovers who have had every issue known to man on this vehicle.

I purchased my 2001 Millenia in 2002 with 15000 miles on it. Thank God, so far I haven't had any major issues with my car. Outside of routine/scheduled maintenance, the only things I have replaced is the oxygen sensor, and the drive belt (replaced twice). The check engine light just came on today (I have 101000 miles on the car) and it's because of the knock sensor and my valve cover gasket has a minor leak and I'm getting those taken care of real soon. After reading the postings on this website, it seems like the Millenia is not worth keeping after you reach the high mileage point because the repairs are very expensive and non-stop. I'll have to keep a close eye out and when I start seeing a series of problems like some of the owners described on this website, then I'll know it's time to move on. The car is paid for and I don't want another car payment so I'll stick it out for it.

I own a 2001 Millenia; the jerking and bucking will stop if you replace the air duct. It's a $90 part, so ask your mechanic. The engine light and all this replacing of O2, cats, etc. didn't do a thing until this air duct was replaced.

I have a 1999 Millenia with 146,000 miles on it. I started it up this morning and it seemed to be running rough. As I drove about a mile to my daughter's school, white smoke started pouring out the exhaust pipe. The temperature gauge pegged to hot, so I pulled over and turned it off. I'm thinking head gasket; at least there is no water in the oil, which makes me think head gasket. Anyway, with 146,000, am I asking for more trouble if I just have the head gasket fixed?

Chris.

I bought my Millenia 6 months ago. Ever since I've had problems.

My car had 57,000 miles when I bought it. It now has 63,837 miles and I have had nothing but problems.

O2 senors replaced.

Now I need a new supercharger, vacuum t hose replaced, axle boots replaced, front stabilizer bar, EGR malfunctioning, timing belt; all which were just informed to me by a Mazda specialist today. Also which he stated where broke or bad before I bought the car. I BOUGHT A LEMON.

Just in parts they said it will cost $8,000.00. Not very happy since I only had the car six months. Other than that the car looks good.

I own a 2001 Mazda Millenia. Bought it 3 years ago with 40.000 miles, had a transmission problem shifting in lower gears, dealership took the car back within 30 days.

I bought another one same model year from them, thought it was a one time thing! Sadly now in the past year the transmission is malfunctioning again shifting in the lower gears, and for added fun, the O2 sensor needs to be replaced as many others stated on here. I love the look of the car, the way it drives overall. But I would NEVER buy another Mazda.

They are prone for trouble with the transmission.

Have the car in the shop right now, not sure of the repair cost, but approx. $ 3500 I was told.

And from reading other comments on here, I wonder if it will fix things for good, or if the check engine light comes back on too. Still did not get the O2 sensor fixed.

I own a 2001 Milly Miller Engine Model, and most of your concerns are all minor in the scheme of modern auto repair.

O2 sensors are common problems in 70% of todays vehicles. Especially after 100K. The problem exists in all brands. Also, very common in Fords that I have owned. Cars driven driven at high speeds frequently will experience O2 issues. Note this car recommends 91 fuel.

Many of you asked for a manual. Helm publications makes the shop book for the car, that's it. It is the same manual used in the dealerships. Plan on $130.00. Anywhere! You may as well buy from dealership, I did.

The TCS light is on because your traction control system needs to be checked. t=Turning the car off then on just resets it just for that moment. Instead, push the button on the console to turn it off. Note that this car is designed to be a luxury sport sedan. Not a sport car.

The miller engine has many praises by experts, and if maintained properly, is a great ride.

My daughter owns a 2001 Millenia with the standard engine. I am a mechanic by trade and I have never spent so much time working on a car than this one. It is a huge piece of crap. With a check engine light on for various reasons, oil leaks, its had two water pumps in the past 3 months and just today it left me on the side of the road for some crazy electrical problem. Do yourself a favor and leave this one in the dealers lot.
