The L36 or 3800 Series II, is one of the best engines in its class. It made Ward's best 10 Engines list in 95-97, and I have never had a problem with one. Want to hear something neat? If you don't maintain a car, things will go wrong with it very very often. I doubt you changed the oil very often or coolant etc... This is called regular maintenance.

If you do maintain your car, the L36 motor is fantastic for longevity, and power. You think V6's suck? They're the most bang for your buck. Plus the LS1 and LT1 warp because they're aluminum blocks and heads. I'm sure you'll love that about them. Go tell the guys at CamaroV6.com what you think of the V6's. You'll be told the same thing.

I own a '98 stick 6 Camaro, and have loved it since day 1, when I bought it new. I only have about 45,000 on it and never expected it to run like an 8. But, with stick it moves out pretty well, enough to make driving really fun. I rarely drive in rush hour traffic, so the stick is never an issue. Just fun, upshifting, downshifting, etc. It's a great looking car, and for $21,000 has given me everything I hoped for and more. I get about 22 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway, another thing I hoped for. Mileage wasn't the be all, but I didn't want to go broke, either. With gas at $4 a gallon, this has become important. I wanted a car that would be fun to drive, yet not bankrupt me at the gas pump, and this car has delivered.
