Never compare a subaru to an acura its interior is crap, and subaru doors are the thinest I've ever seen and really noisy by the way.
I have a 04 Tsx with 56000 km's on it and it runs fine. I love the way it handles and has good power. If you're having trouble with the clutch, why not spend the extra couple hundred and buy a performance clutch that will last you longer? I would definitly buy another acura.
I've been buying Honda for the last 15 years, and I like their reliability. However, I do think the Acura TSX 2004 model has worse records comparing to other Honda's I have had. It's over 60,000mi now, but I have had the same problems other owners had.
Front break disk whop
Console/Radio went dark
Wire harness recall
A/C broke down on a hot summer day
Tires only last 35,000 miles
I'm not sure I'll buy Acura again.
I have a TSX with just over 30,000 miles on it. Last saturday as I was backing out of my driveway, there was a fierce sound coming from the back. I knew immediately that it was the brake pads, went right to the dealer, the service guy tells me I need new rear brake pads! what? already? you're at their mercy because I certainly could not continue driving the car. The cost was $347.00, they also flushed the brake fluid. Needless to say, I was happy they were able to repair it within the hour, but I am not happy about having to have the work done. Overall, I'm not that impressed with the car, its noisy, rides 'rough' and doesn't have enough power. My honda civic rode better then this car, think I'll trade it in for another honda.
The 2003-2004 Model Acura TSX and Accord Euro (for outside the US) have been noted to have these problems, it seems worldly universal. These may have been due to a bad batch of parts or part manufacturer.
1. Front Brake premature wear.
2. Premature clutch failure due to faulty clutch master cylinder (characterized by pedal squeak and friction in movement)
3. Radio/console lights.
4. Rattle near trunk/boot. It comes from the rear parcel shelf.
5. Rattle from the windscreen pillars, something to do with the torsional rigidity around the windscreen.
6. Door rattle, something to do with contact padding.
7. Premature tyre wear, possibly due to camber angle on front wheels, which helps for sporty handling, not so good for tyre wear. Or the Michelins are just more likely to wear out quicker. Tyre pressure is usually lower on the placard than should be.
I have owned a 2004 TSX for nearly 2 years. The rotors are warped, and even though the pads are not worn out, I have to have a brake job to fix the problem. I have owned Hondas or Acuras since the 80's and have had very good success. Acura HQ does not acknowledge that this is a problem. The service managers know about that this is commonplace, but I get no satisfaction from Acura.
I think they need to do a recall, or at least let consumers know that this problem exists and that every nxxx number of miles you will need to machine the rotors to keep the car from shaking when you apply the brakes.
