I have an 01 Taurus with over 140,000 miles and it runs better now than the day I bought it. I have owned domestic cars (Pontiac, Ford, Chevy, Cadillac) and foreign cars (Toyota and Honda) and they all have had to be maintained. Take care of your cars and they will last, as long as you don't get a lemon. All car manufacturers' produce lemons at a higher rate than they would like to admit, and that seems to be the majority of the negative reviews of ALL automobiles on this website. When taken into account the total number of vehicles produced each year worldwide, the percentage is very, very small for lemons. People please try not to condemn ANY manufacturer by saying ALL of their products are bad because of a small number of lemons that they have built. It happens.

I for one have no problem with Ford yet.

I purchased a Ford Taurus new back in 1997 and just hit 180,000 miles. This car does not seem to be slowing down at all. It really drives like the day I bought it.

The most amazing thing about this is that its never once broke down on me. To me that is amazing. I have also hardly ever had to put any 'extra' money in this thing, just standard fluid changes.

You want a complaint? OK, my check engine light has been going on and off since 50,000 miles. Had it turned off 2 times by a mechanic for a total of 50 bucks, by the third time he said we can dig deep or you can just drive it. I chose to just drive it, and I'm glad I did. I notice if you wait a couple days it goes off by itself (then back on later in the week); does it bother me? Not in the least!

I am really looking forward to hitting 200,000 miles next year. Seems to be where I am headed. Oh, and it still blows cold air, I'll take it.

I'm not a fan of Ford, but would own one over any imported piece of crap.

My wife got a 2006 Taurus last year with 34,000 miles on it. The cons from the times I have driven it are a lackluster interior and exterior, uncomfortable seating (I'm 6'3 with a bad back), takes a lot to fill this car up with fuel. Gas is at 4.00$ right now, and going back and forth to work all week drains the tank down to E (she works 30 minutes away round trip in rural NH).

At 47,000 miles the struts are shot, pads, rotors, drums need replacing, and the cruise works 1/2 the time. The car has seen several road trips in the 8 or so months we've had it, and has performed well overall (MPG improves to 30 on trips).

The V6 really hauls when you need to pass a line of slow drivers.

The trunk storage and "personal" passenger space are great.

Wish I knew how to shut up the seatbelt alarm though. It doesn't stop until you click them on (it's not a law to wear them in NH).

This is only a granny car in looks. It's a great car for large families and roadtrips.

2006 Ford Taurus SE. Had the thing until it just went out of the mileage for warranty, and naturally, the head gaskets went. Didn't even know that's what it was because the only problem was a check engine light and some hesitation at first. The mechanic told me what it was and I was floored. According to him, that's not an uncommon problem with these vehicles. So now, I'm paying upwards of $2000 to fix something that should never have gone wrong quite so soon. Forget dealing with Ford themselves, they offered absolutely NO help at all. Believe me, I tried. And yes, I did maintain the car and keep my fluid levels proper.
