I'm having the same mysterious problems with my '98 automatic jeep wrangler sahara. Randomly, the gauges all go off and the airbag light comes on. Also, when I slow down, idle, or stop it shudders and apparently slips out of gear, then jerks into gear when I accelerate. I have been told it might be one of the vacuum hoses, but I have no idea how to fix the problem. Have tried transmission flush, as well as transmission additives to no avail, leading me to believe it is definitely not the transmission.

Hey Everyone!

So I have a 97 SE Wrangler with many of the same electrical problems. Only mine is every time I start it the windshield wipers will come on. Sometimes they stay on for just a minute, other times they won't TURN OFF! Its so annoying! Also I get the problem with LH turn signal indicator turning on and staying on for no reason. WTF? Any advice?

I have an '03 Sahara... My speedometer and my cruise control quit working and was told to replace my sensors. Located in the Transmission I have two sensors one is an "ingoing" and one is an "outgoing", I replaced them both, my engine light is still on and still no speedometer. Is there a reset button somewhere? If anyone knows and answer... email me at dmark@enfd.com. and type in sahara on the subject page. THANKS!!

I have a 1997 TJ and have I believe electrical ignition problems, I have the same simtems as many of the above have, Instrument Cluster gages, most notably, volt meter and tachometer go dead and the engine shuts off, this happens very rapidly like a micro switch or relay opening and closing rapidly, causing the engine to stop and start rapidly causing a very jerky driving experience. This may go on for 30 seconds to a few minutes and then it seems to settle down and run fine for a few hours and then start again. I have came to a complete stop a couple of times but have managaged to start the engine again. I have checked all the electrical connections and they seem fine, I also have switched relays in the PDC, I have checked the connections at the CPU. This problem only affects the ignition as all other electrical areas work, eg: radio, lights, power ports etc. and there is no power fluctuation to these other areas when the problem occurs. Any help with this problem would greatly be appreciated, email ralphgs98@hotmail.com.

I have a 97 Jeep Wrangler Sport with what else?...electrical problems. When the problems first started it was only the radio going on and off when the windshield wiper ran across the window, or when the blinkers blinked. As it got worse, the radio would go off when I turned it up too high.

Now, and probably for the last couple of years, the radio just flickers on occasion or doesn't come on at all. Wipers and blinkers work fine as they always have, but radio has been rendered worthless.

I will likely try the steering column remedy mentioned in these posts, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
