2002 LS V8 97K miles, 3rd owner, purchased with 94K miles May 2007. My AC was blowing hot air. The DCCV went out. Ford fixed it for free since it happen in the first week.
Link on how to fix it. I printed and took to ford with me and showed them. AC great now.

A month later drove to NC from Ohio (500 miles one way) and when I got home I started to notice a white smoke cloud from tail pipe when starting. I have always put in 92 premium, but wondered what theprev. owner put in. I had oil changed with synthetic and no white smoke since.
Now I notice a burning oil smell after driving for 10 min. in town. It's when I stop or go through a drive up I can smell it. Don't notice with windows up. Garage smells for a few then all goes away. Let me know what you think it may be.
At speeds of 70-80 my steering wheel starts to shake. Rotors?? $$$. Was told to get "Road Force test" may go tomorrow. I am going to get it winterized as well costing me 300.00 at valvoline. I guess I have a leaking valve cover gasket to get repaired. I love this car. I have owned many cars and this is my favorite car ever. I liked my 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, but that car was a lemon. I would have to say it was my next best car to drive.
My car goes into reverse rough (transmission?)
I hope to get the Lincoln MKZ or (Zepyher) next. I read Lincolns are better then Cadillacs. Opinions? Cadillac has a hot new car out, but not sure of the name yet. Saw it a few days ago. Small with back end up in air a bit (sharp!)
Just found out the Cadillac I was seeing around town and it is the 2008 CTS. That is a sharp car. Lincoln or Caddy? I have heard the Lincolns are better.
Okay ~ Let me join on in...
I have a Lincoln LS 2000... bought a few years back and the first year I had it the transmission went out. That was an experience in itself.
It took the dealer more than two weeks to fix the problem. Basically they did not want to shell out the money for a new or refurbed transmission, and then I was told that the inspector needed to check it out before going forth. Mind you all this was under the extended warranty purchased at the time of the car purchase. So that was fixed, and I have not had any transmission problems as of yet.
I have had the regulators both go out on both the driver and passenger side.
I have the foggy headlights, and not to mention the tail light that constantly goes out within weeks.
And as of today, my car is at the dealer with a code for a misfire and fuel injection... I was just told that four of them need to be replaced, and they still have not diagnosed the fuel injection problem.
I also have the intermittent noise when driving; not sure if it is the power steering - so here I am with you fellow owners encountering the same problems, and let me tell you the year of the LS 2000 I believe was the first year of this model - BETA TESTER- what fools we were.
Ford Corp needs to offer some type of recalls on their crappy models. and lord knows if we had a person who had a bad day on the assembly line...
I love the car, but can certainly do without the problems. I had a Toyota for 5 years and had a sensor go out. That was it. So I am now looking into the Camrys. I am almost done paying for the car, but when you add up the cost for the repairs.
In 2003 I purchased the 2000 LS six cylinder with 34K and it has been good to me. It has 138K miles on it and my major issue is the Engine/Emission light comes on and off and now it stays on. I have treated the light issue by adding a fuel additive to remove water in the fuel tank. I have always selected a high octane fuel and now I use one with detergent (Shell) which did help for about 4 tanks full. I did also loose a bushing which held the rear widow from falling in the door. Yes, the wheel lugs are an issue. I’m glad they cost me about 5 bucks each so I replaced them all hopefully they will last 20 more tire rotations. Also the driver side interior door handle broke. I did notice my temp gauge rise over normal one hot 2007 summer day, but I not sure what caused it. I have already replaced the plugs, brakes at about 100k. Now I plan to replace the thermostat, PCV’s, fuel filter, trans-solenoid, water pump, ignition coil packs and anything else that could possibly go wrong…
Just bought a 2000ls v6 with 117k w.m.transmission.,.,,.,.today a check eng light came on hope its just a dummy light or mybe I'm the dummy for buying this car??
I have 2000 ls and I want to install a 2002 lower conreol arm in it will it fit the same way because the stud on the 200 is a 15mm and the stud on the 2002 is a 16mm, but I'm not sure if they will fit??someone help.
I have a 2004 LS and it has 60,400 miles on it I just bought it from Drivers Way 2 weeks ago... Its going into the shop for the second time.. First time was for the left front wheel bearings, This time the Service ( (P) ) is on I assume means park brake. The other is the AC is only blowing hot air out which from reading all of this is prob the mixing unit is bad.
Drivers Way has been really awesome so far. I have a bumper to bumper warranty on this car till 100,000 miles I assume I'll be using it a lot. Good thing this isn't a daily driver.
Other than all that No issues or problems. It's a beautiful car and drives really well. I Just took it on a 1100 mile trip and it was a pleasure to drive.
Up until this car I only drove Chevrolet... This is putting a bad taste in my mouth for Fords...
I have a lincoln ls 2000 with only 80,000 miles and it will not pass emission due to the catalytic convertor CRAP CODE... and the check engine LITE ON... the car runs fine and smooth and it IS STUPID to have to pay $500.00 just to get repaired and pass emission. It does nickel and dime you to death...
I've owned a 2000 Lincoln LS for about five years now. I have had to replace:
All four window regulators.
Heater coil.
Air conditioner blows hot air on the drivers side, and the A/C goes out after driving 50 miles.
Rear view mirror cracked.
Engine light came on; got a tune up and changed the fuel filter. May have to get coils, not to mention it does not pick up speed at times.
The clock on the radio is out, and the air bag light will not go off.
This car has 85000 miles on it and I will be finished paying for after Christmas, and will be trading it in because I can't afford the repairs for my so called dream car.
If you have a lawsuit count me in tessia2@aol.com
I have a 2004 Lincoln LS Black with black interior, and I have not had major repairs. However, I can say I have had the following problems:
1) (2) Sensors going out in the transmission
If the transmission is sticking, this is probably the reason.
2) I am very unhappy that for the price of these cars, they are made of plastic parts...
A. The emergency brake lever fell into the console.
B. The fuel, status, reset 4 button plastic piece of crap broke.
C. The back of the passenger seat broke. It is held together with plastic clips.
D. The seat adjustment on the side made of plastic also broke.
E. Headliner is held together with plastic clips; they are loose in the back above the rear window.
3) Car overheat light was coming on and Ford would not do anything unless they could see it overheating. Once vehicle is shut off, it magically does not come on again. I had it to the shop 3 times and they won't do anything...
4) Had to replace the seat track that was making a groaning noise.
5) Steering wheel makes noise; however, they are deaf and could not hear it.
6) Windows fell into the doors.
7) Sunroof drain pipe was not directed properly and started leaking water into the car. I may have a mold inspection as there seems to be a musty smell now, although they assured me there was no mold of course...
I extended the warranty until 100,000 miles. Needless to say I paid nearly $4,000 for nothing... the salesman told me it was the best warranty they offered; however they will not cover any of the plastic parts. Imagine that a vehicle that retails new for over $40,000 is made of nothing other than plastic parts that break.
This is a very beautiful car, but not made of quality construction. I agree there should be some kind of class action suit or recall for all these problems owners are having. If anyone hears of a recall, or information on a class action suit, please contact me via e-mail: shaw1104@aol.com
Funny thing is the Ford garage acts like I am one in a million people who have had a problem. I also do not like how when you pay to drive a Lincoln, you are stuck in whatever piece of crap Ford economy car they choose to put you in.
If anyone knows of where I may get some plastic parts or an alternative to re-attach the back part of my seat, please advise as the costs for the plastic parts is well over $500.00 Thanks for listening and good luck to everyone!
If you guys are really serious about a lawsuit or know anything about a recall please e-mail me at: sheika.wilson@thesouthgroup.com.

I've had mostly all of the common problems as most LS owners. If you decide to buy one because of its nice looks, get rid of it before the warranty expires or else you might as well just add another $6000 to the cost.
I went from a Lincoln Mark VII, then to a Mark VIII, then LS. After the consistent problems with the LS, Lincoln just lost a valued customer. I will not purchase another Lincoln.
Like you guys, I bought what I thought was the car of my dreams. I'm 16 years old and don't have a lot of money. My dad had previously owned the car. I've never had a problem with it until a couple of days ago. My engine light came on so I took it into auto-zone for a free dynastics check. It came out to be that cylinders 6 and 8 were miss-firing. Should I replace the plugs and wires or will this just lead to more problems? Please help, I really do love this car and don't want to see it go down the drain. (blazicek.quentin@mchsi.com) HELP!
Everyone needs to call the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin. 1-888-327-4236 also call Ford to make a complaint 1-800-392-6673. This is the only way we can be heard and then maybe someone will investigate this. Make sure you have you vin #. NHSA wants to know why you feel it's not safe explain the lug nuts that door handle even the ball joint.
I am the shamed owner of a 2000 LS as well. This car has been a money pit for me for a couple of years now. Just as I made my last payment, things started going down hill. It started as simple as the rear window regulator on the drivers side. Now the passenger side sounds like you are popping popcorn when you roll the window down. That is the least of my worries though. Next, the steering rods had to be replaced. Another 1,000.00. This could have been much more, but I have a family member who is Ford certified and replaced them for me. Unfortunately he doesn't work with cooling systems because this was my next problem. In April of 07, my car began to overheat. After a month in the shop, I had replaced the thermostat two times, all the hoses, the temp sending unit (under the manifold 400.00) and had the fan worked on. So, when I got it home, I drove it for 2 days when it overheated again. 1200.00 later, I couldn't believe that the problem was not corrected. At this point, I had been towed twice and now needed a tow truck again. My husband and I began to investigate the problem ourselves. When we took the wheel-well out to get to the reservoir, we found a 3 inch crack in the back of it (made of plastic). The corners of the reservoir were cracking as well. After replacing this, my car was fine, other than the constant engine lights for sensors... not nearly as severe as the other problems. So, I arrived at work one morning and grabbed the door handle to open the door and it fell off in my hand. So, I rolled down the window and opened it from the outside. Not only was the hand broken, but the inner workings of the door handle were, too. All this had to be replaced. So here we are 8 months later... I pushed the status button on my console and the entire bar of buttons went back into the dash... plastic around the screw broke, my trunk has started leaking, my front end sounds like it is full of sand when I turn a corner, and yesterday it overheated. Now, I am replacing the reservoir for the second time; time for a new car. I have always been a loyal ford customer, but I think this one will be my last.
