I would not pay any mind to the person who uses these << >> as quotations, I've seen some of his/hers comments through out this website and there quite laughable to say the least, clearly another brainwashed consumer reports reader.

Very entertaining! I own a 1998 Buick Regal, 1999 Porsche 911, 2001 VW Passat 4-motion, and a Olds Silouhette. Talk about auto attention defficit! The Regal turned 230,000 miles and going strong. I love it for how I use it...300 miles per week as a daily driver. Good ride, not exceptional, but perfect for how I use it.

Love my Porsche... for very different reasons, but it is reliable as well. Passat has its issues. Great driver, but my mechanic has paid off his house because of me and my Passat Friends. The Van is... a van.

For reliability... get a 3.8. Buick, Grand Prix, or older other car.

I agree, the 3.8 GM engines are some of the most reliable engines out there. The 3.5 used in the Impala is also a very good engine that delivers great power AND great fuel mileage. My brother is currently driving his second Impala in the past 14 years. It gets an incredible 33mpg on the highway and is a very smooth and comfortable car.

I currently own an 08 Nissan Altima and a 00 Toyota Tundra. My last car was an 04 Honda Civic. All of these have been really good vehicles. I owned a 95 Buick Regal coupe with a 3800 V6. That also was an excellent car.

Some here have bashed all of these companies. My Japanese and American vehicles have been great. Some here have also said that Consumer Reports is biased -- presumably because they think CR downgrades Buicks. CR does indeed show bias when they review cars just like everyone else. However their quality ratings are a compilation of consumer experiences. In the area of quality, Buick performs admirably in their ratings. Buick has indeed generally been a reliable brand according to them. JD Power agrees. Sorry if someone got a bad one, but that doesn't make them all bad. Not by a long stretch.

My car enthusiast buddies and I are all totally elated over the awesome quality of all the new GM lines (as well as the unbeatable Ford Fusion). Build quality far in advance of any import, and a warranty to match. The Mailbu and Cadillac chosen as Cars of the year.

With the imports, especially Toyota, dropping in quality like a rock and requiring weekly visits to the service department, it won't be long before people wake up and send them packing back to Japan and keep their money in American businesses. After absolutely disastrous experience with imports, we'll never waste a dime on any import ever again.

Recently I saw one of the latest generation Camry's on our local Chevy dealer's used lot. I also recently noticed a late model Avalon perusing the local Buick dealer as well as a late model Accord on their used lot. I realize these are the exception, but it will become more common as the quality of late model imports continues to drop.

Yeah, I've got my fingers crossed that the new Malibu and CTS will have high quality marks. They are well designed and engineered vehicles. Still, Ford offers some very high quality cars that deserve consideration. The Fusion has the best repair record among family cars (tied with Hyundai Sonata), and 90%+ of all Ford vehicles are recommended by Consumer Reports. Buicks have also done very well typically. So both of the big American companies are showing improvement. I'm the guy with the comment above about his Tundra, Altima, and Regal. Right now my vehicles are Japanese machines and they are very good. However, I'm thinking my next car will be a domestic. I like what I'm seeing.

You see 2007 Camry's advertised in our local used car section of the paper all the time. It doesn't take the average driver long to find out they have been taken. I suspect most of the used Camrys were probably towed to the car lots after breaking down. My friend's Camry lasted all of 6 months before the transmission went out. It was towed to a Chevy lot and he bought a Malibu.
