1980 Holden Sunbird UC 1.9L Starfire from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Excellent car, easy to drive

Faults:

I had to replace the radiator. water pump and the heater core because the person I bought it off wasn't using coolant, but just water. The car was left sitting and rust took over. This wasn't a fault of the car though, just poor maintenance. Other than that nothing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

A very reliable car. Drove from Adelaide to Sydney and back no problems.

Front and back seats very comfortable considering the age of the car. Everything in mint condition.

Moves when it wants to being a light car and very fuel efficient.

The UC Sunbird is an excellent car. My Sunbird has done nearly 300,000 kms and only had one problem, which was the transmission was slipping in drive gear. Only $80 later it was fine.

I've had plenty of cars, and this one by far has been the most reliable of the lot. The Sunbird has more power than I ever expected for the little 1.9 starfire engine.

The front and back seats are very comfortable, and I think it's a very safe and easy to drive car.

You were lucky! My father seemed to have endless issues with his stalling and whatnot. He ended up putting twin Weber carburettors on it to solve this problem. Oh yeah, the doors bottoms rusted out so quickly, that he had "spares" lined up in the garage. I mean this car was reliable enough, I guess, minus these faults. And it handled OK too!
