2011 Renault Megane Station Wagon dCi 2.0 turbo diesel from France

Summary:

We were satisfied with this car

Faults:

Unlike our cars back home, this car does not have conveniences like a cup holder and automatic lock.

When we were in Spain, the GPS system seemed to have a mind of its own. Why? Because before we got to our destination, the GPS would confuse us by making all of the wrong turns, and sometimes the GPS would tell us to do illegal stuff, like for example making all the wrong turns, and all that chaos in their rotondas, AKA rotaries as called by the GPS! Spanish infrastructure may be of bad quality, but the GPS should at least understand all of the roads and its surroundings. It worked fine in France and in Portugal, but in Spain, OH GOD!!!

Nevertheless, we did not have a problem with the GPS system in France and in Portugal, because everything was clear, and the infrastructure of France and Portugal are of good quality.

We did not experience any mechanical problems with this car.

General Comments:

This is our 5th vacation in Europe since 2005. Before, we took Eurail and later on the budget airlines like Vueling and EasyJet whenever we go around Europe, having good food and enjoying nice places, but this year we decided to lease a car.

Back in Manila, when we were planning our trip, we wanted to rent a Mercedes or a BMW from a rental company like Europcar or Avis. Then relatives and friends told us about this thing about leasing a brand new car. You get 4 weeks of it, and you get to pay less compared to renting Mercedes or BMW, wherein you get only 2 weeks, you pay more, plus the car you will get is not that new.

We decided to lease a brand new Renault Megane station wagon, and well everything was very good, from the reception of the guy at Renault, up to the driving impressions of the car. Driving this car is so fun and so nice. The car is very powerful and very fast thanks to its 2.0 engine; just right for the body of the car. Driving it on the motorway feels like you're really fast on the road, and the handling is very smooth. I also like it that this car has sensors, so whenever we parked the car, we would know if we were going to hit something or not. The car is comfortable in front, but can be a bit uncomfortable if you sit in the back, because there is not much legroom available.

Overall, the car served us well, and we were satisfied with it. When we got the car in Paris last April 26, we drove to Bordeaux, San

Sebastian, Aspeitia, Bilbao, Santiago de Compostela, Oporto, Fatima, Lisbon, Faro, Sevilla, Jabugo, Granada, Valdepenas, Madrid, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Avignon, Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Toulouse, Lourdes, then back to our base in Paris. We just returned the car in the Renault office today. We absolutely enjoyed our trip, and we were able to see many nice places and enjoy good food in the 28 days we had with the car. Much better than taking Eurail or the plane.

I hope the person who will buys this particular car shall be able to enjoy it too, and be able to keep it for a long time. I also hope he will also take it on a similar road trip sometime. One day I will get to see this car again!!!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
