1968 Chrysler Valiant VC

Summary:

Bargain oldie

Faults:

Water pump needed replacing.

Alternator need replacing.

Exhaust smell came up through the boot into cabin area.

Small tires felt like they were all over the road, so put bigger ones on with good effect, car felt more stable on the road.

General Comments:

Another fun car to drive. Big steering wheel, column shift, sea green color and that huge bonnet.

Bench seat in front meant you could cuddle up while driving :)

Bit of a petrol guzzler and only took leaded petrol.

Only paid about $500 for the car and certainly got my money's worth. only a small amout of rust in bottom of doors, for it's age.

Unfortunately , I parked it non the road in front of my house and a fool in a 4WD ploughed into it and wrote it off.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

No offence intended and not intending to be a nitpicker dude, but are you sure the Valiant you owned was a VC model? Maybe your Valiant was a VE model, the VC range had been discontinued by October 1967. I have driven both VC and VE Valiants and it's definitely the VE which has a huge bonnet. The VC bonnet by comparison is really no bigger than that of an EH Holden which isn't that big itself. Otherwise a good review and a pleasure to read.

I had a VC V8, and I know the VC were discontinued in 1967. You probably had a VE with the aircraft carrier bonnet. The VC had a nice bonnet line. I believe that a lot of older Valiant owners still have a very soft spot for the Val's.
