1999 Citroen Berlingo 1.4 Litre petrol

Summary:

Great value and fun to drive and own

Faults:

The rear muffler needed replacing at 50,000 kilometers.

General Comments:

I use the van on a daily basis for personal use and I am most impressed with the following points:-

The vehicle is extremely reliable and cheap to maintain.

The vehicle drives like a sedan with excellent road holding and a very comfortable ride. It also has light accurate steering and good brakes.

The vehicle has excellent head room and is very easy to get in and out of.

In four years the body of the vehicle is still tight and rattle free.

Whilst it only has a 1.4 liter motor I can easily keep up with the traffic and have covered over a thousand kilometers in one day on interstate trips.

The vehicle is only sold in Australia in its most basic form, however I would like to see it also available with a 1.6 liter motor and optional trim for the rear compartment.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

This is a follow up comment to my original post.

My Berlingo has just reached 100,000 kilometers. I am now on my third set of brake pads. I've had the rear muffler replaced and the cylinder head gasket replaced at 80,000 km.

Apart from those items the car has had no other faults and is still fun to drive. I can see no reason to replace the vehicle after almost six years of use. A real workhorse!
