1989 Honda Integra XSi 1.6L DOHC VTEC

Summary:

An absolute rocket

Faults:

Leak in the passenger footwell, very common in this car. Fixed with silicone over the rubber grommets.

Water in the footwell caused the heater fan to seize, and has damaged the A/C unit and computer, so now the fan only works on high speed.

General Comments:

This car is unreal. A 1.6L NA engined car putting out 160hp. Also weighs just over a tonne. It is unbelievably fast.

The close ratio gearbox allows for very fast acceleration at some expense of top speed.

Honda's VTEC technology is fantastic, this car goes hard up until 4800rpm, and then VTEC kicks in and the thing accelerates even harder until the 9000rpm red line.

Interior is very hard wearing and functional, but looks great at the same time.

The factory bucket seats become a little uncomfortable on long drives in the lower back.

Everything is electric, and it's fantastic.

This car is superb to drive, it is a really underrated sports car, but definitely not for the timid.

1989 Honda Integra XSi 1.6 DOHC VTEC B16A

Summary:

A Speedy Car for a bargain

Faults:

The indicator light blew on the right front that is the only thing wrong with it.

General Comments:

I have removed the resonator. Fitted a 2.25 inch exhaust system.

The car is perfect, very good condition, I have had no problems with it so far.

The clear coat paint can begin to peel if not looked after properly.

Just wondering how the integra compares to your old rear wheel drive alfa mate?

1989 Honda Integra EX 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Economical but sporty

Faults:

The automatic idle was stuck on when I bought it and revved at around 3000rpms (a bit disconcerting!!). The dealer fixed it and from then on no problems!

General Comments:

This is a great little car. Change the tyres to Yoko's or Toyo's and that's when the fun begins. The car is undervalued and great fun.

It never broke down, looked OK and I loved it because people thought it was just an old Honda... but it's an old Honda that can get to 100k's in 9 seconds. The DOHC 16V 1.6 was almost as much fun as the Alfa - BUT FAR MORE RELIABLE.
