2002 HSV GTO Coupe 5.7

Summary:

Absolutely love driving this car

Faults:

Required a water pump replacement at 55,000. A small leak, and a common fault I was told. Cost for this large part, $250.

Has a minor oil leak, I would say rear main seal. It had been like that for a few years, but I'd rather put up with it than have grease monkeys work on it.

Twice, the dash lights and all functions disappeared for a few seconds, then started working again... ghosts??

Most HSV paintwork on their part additions were very poorly painted, very disappointed, a real let down Holden, and some screws they used were rusting.

General Comments:

Stunning looking car outside and interior, drives and handles real well, an eye turner even in 2013, plus the power to use for overtaking is magic.

Front seats are not as comfortable as they could be.

Fuel consumption is great for a V8; around 9.8 @ 100Kmph on freeway, however thirsty around town and hi octane fuel is expensive.

Overall finish is great, compared to Aussie cars of the 70s, which were rust buckets and had bad finish, compared to fully imported Japanese cars I owned previously from 1977 to 2000.

Automatic is wow!! A sluggish changing 4 speed, especially when changing up at slow speeds, feels like a dinosaur.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
